I've heard Bearshare is quite good, uses Gnutella network and 360Share software. A good friend said he could find almost any mp3s on there

Each application has it's pro's and con's... DC++ is better than them both!

Torrents are pretty good IMHO. I have a Linux server that does torrents all the time. Alot of Open Source and Linux stuff is distributed by the
publishers on BitTorrent so it's a usefully legit method.
On my 1MB connection I can get 1MB download speed.
In the old days of WinMX I never saw anything like that.
Horse for courses mate.

I use limewire and torrents. Torrents are good for full albums etc and limewire for individual things.

Any p2p application is risky. THere are more and more planted torrents and things on p2p sites that are used to prosecute people.
The only thing I ever use to find anything I want to try/listen to is newsgroups. Virtually impossible to trace.

i use limewire which is really good, it doesn't have much if any spyware. i used to use others which had loads such as kazza and imesh.
however as mentioned earlier DC++ is by far the best. if u can get it to work its brilliant as it works on direct connections so noone should be able
to track what u are doing. tho i may be wrong in that assumption
my housemate uses dc++ and finds lots of software and films and music etc. i could never get it to work on my comp as i couldn't get the
firewall on the router to allow the nessary ports to be opened.
if u like things simple, limewire is brill. otherwise DC is the best in my opinon.

Anything but Torrents and DC++ is spyware infected.
For the Torrents and the DC++ I only use those hubs and sites that need invitation to be part of.
Would never trust any of those applications as Kazaa, bearshare, Limewire.
