dedion axles

we still have jigs for dedion axle assemblies, and have thought about doing a batch suitable for std and sierra trackwidth in kit form or welded up and powdercoated,

if there is enough interest we would commence in 2 weeks time

best regards

marc

How much money would we be talking and would they be bracketed to fit the locost book chassis properly?

I could be very interested. I was hoping to locate one in standard book width, but can make the standard width work, if needed. Please let us know what the prices would be.

Thanks,
Shaun

[Edit] Sorry, should have read more carefully. I would like one in book width, please!

I may be interested too also depending on the price. Would be wanting sierra track width with brackets for book width car (if they come with brackets). I think I'd most likely want either the kit or a none powder coated one for cheapness (again depending on price).

Would collection be required or can it be delivered?

Daft question, how would we mount the diff? Would this include diff mounting brackets to go on a standard chassis?

(yeah, i'm interested, i had persuaded myself i would stick with the escort axle!)

So thats.....

1 x de-dion tube
2 x end plates
2 x drum to disc plates
2 x suspension mounts
2 x trailing arm brackets
1 x panhard rod tube
2 x inserts for panhard rod ends
1 x panhard chassis bracket
1 x panhard axle bracket
and
2 x diff brackets

for £80, I only ask after reading some other threads where people think they're getting everything and only end up with the axle!

Thanks

Craig

I don't see any mention of suspension links, brackets or bushes, and I think to expect them to be included for £80 is insanely optimistic.

At £80 for the axle and diff brackets I reckon this is an excellent deal.

But it does state a "complete kit of parts as per Rorty's plans."

And Rorty's plans are very comprehensive.

The axle is the bit the wheels attach to, the rest of the stuff is suspension. They are not specific to a de-dion setup, you would still need them for a book locost with a live axle

What i'm trying to make clear is what exactly are you getting for £80

The parts i've listed are all on Rorty's plans and are nothing to do with mountinig it to the chassis, or bushes for that matter.

Rorty' plans are as follows

De-dion axle parts
1 De-dion tube
2 end plates
2 tubes the driveshafts run through
2 brackets the trailing arms bolt to
2 Shockmounts
1 panhard rod bracket.

All this welds together to make an axle!

BUT, also listed in Rorty's plans are....

2 brackets to convert to discs
1 panhard rod
2 threaded inserts for above to weld in to take rod ends
1 chassis bracket to mount panhard rod.

In adition to this Marc says it comes with diff brackets.

So what i'm trying to say is,
Are you getting ALL the parts on Rorty's plans and the diff brackets?

OR,

Are you only getting SOME of the bits on Rorty's plans?

Are these still likely to be for sale? I'd like to know exactly what's included too, and also how much delivery is likely to be.

Thanks! Dave.

It's funny that you should comment on this today. I just sent an email to MNR last night asking for an update. I hope to receive a response early next week.

unfortunately there was not enough response to dedicate a couple of days to do it, especially as we are so busy, thought it may help people out a bit as i know some have been let down in their axle supply, but most of those issues must have been resolved now as we only had three proper enquireys

I will send this via email to Marc, as well:

Thanks for responding to our inquiries, Marc. I certainly understand the difficulties related to committing time and resources to an area where there is little apparent interest.

My impression is that several people are interested, so perhaps we can help a bit by promoting and organizing a one-time group-buy? This way, you need not spend any time putting this together, and would only commit to the project if we had sufficient numbers.

How many orders would you need to make this worthwhile for you?

Thanks for your consideration.

Shaun
