Vauxhall XE vs Ford Zetec engine weight

Just read some tosh on here about heavy Vauxhall engines.

No they are not light, but saying that in comparison to a Zetec is a bit far fetched to say the least!!!

Fully dressed Ford Zetec on twin carbs = 125kg

Fully dressed Vauxhall XE on twin carbs = 132 kg

Fully dressed Vauxhall XE with lightweight bits = 113kg

fully dressed zetec with lightweight bits?????

i always find these figures interesting as its difficult to get an exact figure to compare, is fully dressed including fluids and electics? (ie an engine ready to start?), what about engine management units? (ok so you said carbs) flywheel & clutch ?

I'm not having a gripe at how heavy or light any of the engines NS Dev's quoted, just the whole concept of this engine weighs.....

What is also interesting you can probably fit a Zetec and an XE and still be lighter than my Pintosaurus
