Weber Carb Setup?

Guys,

I had a look at my carbs last night and this is what I appear to have fitted to them: -

Choke - Didn't know where to find it.
Main - 145
Air Drilling - 155
Idle - 55 F8
Pump Jet - 45
Spill Valve - Didn't know where to find it.
Emulsion - F16

Does this sound about right and they just need tuning, or do I need to
replace anything? (I am running a Blacktop Zetec with OMEX ECU).

The Dave Andrews site says: -

Choke - 34-36mm
Main - 120 145
Air Drilling - 125 180
Idle - 60 F8 50 F9
Pump Jet - 050 40
Spill Valve - 045 4.5
Emulsion - F16 F9/F16/F2

and Raceline said: -

Choke - 34mm
Main - 120
Air Drilling - 125
Idle - 60 F8
Pump Jet - 050
Spill Valve - 045
Emulsion - F16

What does all this mean and what is correct???????

Any help appreciated.

Mark

The number of people who really understand Webers are few and far between and they won't just give you the information for free.

To get best results you'll need to pay an expert to set them up for you and even then they won't be as good as bike carbs which will cost you less than the Webers plus tuning would.

I'd recommend selling your Webers on ebay and using the money to get an R1 bike carb kit from Bogg Bros.

Just my 2p.

Why wont they be as good as bike carbs? Surely theres more adjustment on Webers (loads of jet sizes etc) so you should be able to tweak them to better suit the engine?

A lot more chances to screw up the tuning. Unless they are setup with an unlimited budget i.e. changing chokes emulsions etc and because they work in stages they veyr often have a flat spot.

In contrast the bike carbs are variable and to a large extent self compensating. I.E. my carbs jetted for a 2L work perfectly on a 1.6L.

More cost effective solution will be to wait for Deneo to sort his conversion out.

I have done both (weber and bike carbs). I much prefer the bike carbs but if you want to use the webers the Raceline setup is very close to the one Westfield use too and is pretty good.

Choke - 34mm
Main - 120
Air Drilling - 125
Idle - 65 F9 (slightly larger than the 60F8 you stated to try and overcome the lean spot just off idle)
Pump Jet - 045 (I found the 50 to be a little big)
Spill Valve - 045 (in bottom of float chamber)
Emulsion - F16

I used the above on my 2 litre zetec with a raceline gems ignition map. It worked pretty well (162bhp / 156ft/lb on RR). It still ran a little lean just off idle though. I now run honda blackbird carbs that I have just tuned with a wideband sensor. They are much better but took a fair amount of sorting out. If you want the ignition map to be used with the above weber settings drop me a U2U with your email address.

However if you want to know the setting / ignition map for blackbird carbs on a 2.0L zetec I now have them too.

In fact here is the raceline map for the webers attached

Sorry it's only a screen dump I haven't worked out how to export to a spreadsheet or similar.
