structural rivets
i'm trying to get hold of some structural rivets, the ones where the mandrel fills the middle bit, for the floor for my new indy.
before anyone tries to shout using them down, the first car, with normal blind rivets fretted and oozed ally coloured waxoyl out between the sheets.
just thought this should hold a bit better, and if they're good enough for aerospace, they'll do nicely.
i can't seem to find them anywhere on t'internet in england, and i know someone's said they've used them on here, so just
wondered if they had a couple hundred spare. most places seem to want to sell them in 1000s.
presumably about 4.8/5mm dia. and clamp range around 5/6mm.

AGS2065-5XX or AGS4719-5xx are aerospace numbers for what you want, the 5 is 5/32" dia & xx is the grip lenghth in 1/16"ths, but
getting hold ogf a large quantity & a gun to pull the 4719's is another thing, the RS items are just ally pops & the cherry max are
about £5 each & you need the gun to put them in, Have you thought of using steel pops AGS2050-5xxBH or BS, (BH break head..BS break stem)

I have used structural rivets throughout. One thing you have to watch for is some types needa a special tool to set them....
I bought 4.8mm huck magnaloks for my floorpan and some other high load areas.
they aren't cheap but didn't break the bank. I can't remember the exact price but I think I paid about £100 for 500 rivets...

forgot to mention - I used ally ones - stainless 4.8mm would be a bitch to work!

I went thought the same thoughts. I talked it through with these guys: http://www.prifast.co.uk/. I would suggest
phoning them (his price was good as well).
I ended up using Avex 1661 Multigrip

e only rivets approved for amateur aircraft building. You will find the structural rivets very expensive and very difficult to "pull" you
will need a special tool (in theory at least) to allow there mandrel locking mechanism to work. The 1661's are not the same as the cheapo pop
rivets, but are not "structural ones" ether.. Still I have yet to use the car so maybe they will also come lose (I expect not though as
they are spaced 30mm apart, (4.2mm rivets), as you are supposed to use them).
U2U me if you want the part numbers etc (I might have the wrong parts, as the above is from memory, I can check tonight).
