MT75 box + Zetec
Does the Mt75 box fit a Zetec, Pinto or Duratec?
Answers greatly appreciated.

I've found this helpful on Zetecs, I think you can mate it to either of the others, with some basic modifications.

Whats the advantages??
lighter?
take more power?
gear ratio?
Is this the same length as a type 9, I suppose what I am asking is is this a straight swap for a type 9 assuming you had a type 9 to zetec already
fitted.

Bike Carbs or Webers?
I notice big_wasa appears to have gone from bike carbs to Webers. Since I'm planning on fitting Fireblade carbs to my Zetec I wondered if
there were any problems I should be aware of.

It is stronger than a Type 9, but both in good nick are well up to the job. Type 9 is about the same weight and can have the ratios changed where as
the MT75 cannot, that siad the cost of a recon close ratio Type 9 is about £500.
The MT75 ratios are OK, 1st is a bit low but thats the same for most donor "boxes. Westfield have been using them for years. One big advantage
is that the gearlever can be moved backwards or forwards to get the lever just where you want it with little effort.
The ratios with 15" 195/50 tyres and a 3.62 diff @6500rpm (MT75 from a 2.0 DOHC Sierra) give 65 in 2nd, 90 in 3rd and 100+ in 4th/5th then my
bottle goes!
Mine has done 150,000 and has no leaks and very little wear and slots thru the gears very nice. same box used in Granada/Cossie 4x4 so easy life in a
"7". If you get one from a ABS equiped car you also get a good digital speedo output sensor!

interesting,
do you know out of interest if it uses the same starter, clutch, flywheel as the type 9 and same size propshaft.
Just thinking if my type 9 went bang how easy it would be to slap a mt75 in seems like a better choice.

The output shaft flange is different so the prop is not a straight swap. Starter is standard rwd one, mine from the donor car (DOHC Sierra), flywheel
is lightend 2.0 Mondeo. Bit of a pain to change.

Yep I got the carbs from Haydn at a price I couldnt say no to If they dont live upto expectations then I will have a go with injection instead..Or
get another bike carb set up. I cant recomend B Bro's enought..First class work and service. just wish I had seen them run..The webbers seem to
have been working fine when he wraped it round a tree. I just couldnt ressist the look of them........
Gearbox set up was 1.8 130 spec lightned flywheel and clutch and a westfield thrust bearing. This gave a bolt on solution.
The 130 spec 1.8 Escort and the Mondeo had the mtx75 gearbox which has the same 1"23 spline input shaft as the mt75 and type 9 gearbox. Giving
an easy clutch set up. Other Zetecs had the type BC and the type IB5 gearbox and these have a 20mm 17 spline input shaft making the clutch setup more
of a parts bin special. Or another option is to have the fly wheel modded to take the standard pinto clutch.

The MT75 is a bit wider too i think, I've not measured it but I've atype 9 & a MT75 sat together & it does look wider in the
section where the gears sit so best check to see if it'll fit in the tunnel!

Steve, the mt75 is a little wider at the front and the bellhousing
