Peugeot 306 Front Lower Rear Bush Help!!!!

Hi All,
banged both near side wheels on a kerb last week, took it to the garage, they said front lower rear bush and rear stub pin should sort it, as I currently have positive camber on both wheels (not major but not ideal). Quote from peugeot for the parts is about £250 as they say I need the whole front wishbone, and rear suspension set up. Is it not just possible to get the front bush and rear stub pin? If anyone has any knowledge of the car and these areas it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
Matt

contact the peugeot specialist in Nuneaton - 02476 382769.

Mark was something like the 2nd best pug mechanic one year and ended up running the service department in Arbury. Packed it in to run his own place - the only place i trust to look at my car, even now i drive a vauxhall.

Front bushes are part of the wishbones, i have just replaced my 206 fronts. Not sure how different the front 306 is, but its a bitch of a job. Front arms are about £30 to £80 dependnig on where yuo buy. Not sure about the rears though.

no, on a 306 you can get the bushes separately from the wishbones... not OE though...

as original equippment you can get only the whole wishbone, but yuo have 2 choices..

1. replacement bushes, I advise you look aroud at varous pug specialists but also large dealers of replacement parts, I bought all the rubber bushes + ball joints separately from the wishbone.

2. Peugeot sport sells only the bushes, not cheap but a great upgrade though..

Check your local motor factor for the front arms, Euro car parts, German and Swedish

Rear stub pin IS part of the rear trailing arm. Theory says that you should be able to replace just the pin, BUT, I've not come across anyone yet that has been able to undo it.

IF its the part that I'm thinking of.

GSF do more parts than advertised in their online catalogue. I had some bushes for my 406 from them that were not listed in the Peugeot suspension section. I have always had good and knowledgeable service from the Nottingham and Sheffield branches. Worth a phone call.

If you've damaged the bushes in the front wishbone then the chances are you've also damaged the ball joint as well. For the £30 or so a complete arm will cost you from GSF I'd just replace the wishbone. It can also be an arse of a job to remove and replace a bush in the wishbone and getting it seated properly.

Without wanting to put a further downer on it, but having heavily kerbed a 205 several times in the past it is also likely the wheel bearing and driveshaft will need attention fairly soon

As mentioned above, the stub axle is usually replaced by replacing the trailing arm - don't know the cost, but I think it's a fairly involved job. Don't rule out the idea of looking for a complete rear beam assembly of a written off car - might be a better overall solution.

The pin in the rear trailing arm will come out if you hit it hard enough, large copper hammer should do the trick. Then you'll need to find a straight S/H pin to knock back in. As said above for the sake of a few quid an arm is easier. The pins used to strip the thread when removing the lock nuts back when I worked at the dealers.

If its like the ones I've done, then once youv'e got the brakes hanging of the arm and the damper undone, youll find that all that hold the arm on is an 8mm bolt into the torsion bar. Then pull the arm off and refit in reverse order.

You can get the front bushes from a citroen dealer but its a pain of a job to change them and put the new ones on. If i had to do it again i'd just get some wishbones from my local motor factor.

The back of my 306 is a bit odd at the moment but i'm trying to avoid having to do anything with it....
