Mk IV Cortina Axle

Is this an English diff assembly as fitted to Mk II Escort?

Cortina axle is wider than the escort. I think they fitted a couple of different axles, depending on which engine it had installed. May be wrong, but somebody will soon give you the full SP. Regards, Ray

To make a car go faster, just add lightness. Colin Chapman - OR - fit a bigger engine. Chippy

Mk 3, 4 and 5s came with two types of axle, one was based on the Atlas Capri axle and is the prefered type, and an axle based on the Koln axle, which was originally fitted to European Ford Escorts. The Koln axle is weak, and things like the CWP and LSDs are not commonly available. Easy way to tell them apart is the spacing of the diff studs, the Atlas cover has equally spaced studs and the Koln has two offset studs top and bottom.

DO NOT PUT ON KNOB OR BOLLOCKS!
