Locost sells for £250 once owned by Carol Selby! I can see the headline now.

I don't think the type 9 will take 800 bhp though

I don't believe it - I actually went back and looked at the picture to see if this was true

No mate I reckon they are off a Granada, If you look closely, the head where the mushroom sits (or should that now be called a toadstool cos thats bigger as well) is definately a larger diameter.

I've heard it said that the typical modern kit-car cobra replica is a technically far superior car to the original anyway.

(is this the kit-car-forum equivalent of "fight! fight! fight!" ?)

Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead is purely coincidental. Some assembly required. Batteries not included. Contents may settle during shipment. Use only as directed. No other warranty expressed or implied. Do not use while operating a motor vehicle or heavy equipment. Subject to approval, terms and conditions apply. Apply only to affected area. For recreational use only. All models over 18 years of age. No user-serviceable parts inside. Subject to change. As seen on TV. One size fits all. May contain nuts. Slippery when wet. For office use only. Edited for television. Keep cool; process promptly.

Obviously no-one has told him he could build a sports car for £250 and race it too.

I used to be apathetic but now I just don't care.

Weren't they that floopy the chassis was part of the suspension? A modern one would go, stop and corner faster. But it wouldn't be Carol Shelby's own motor. Otherwise, a very tasty bit of kit.

I've got a back copy of a car mag from the eighties with a test-drive of an original 427 with lots of Cobra facts and figures.
One of said factoids was that two 427s were built with dual Paxton superchargers, putting out 800bhp. The manual transmission could'nt handle the grunt so they had to use very heavy, cast-iron cased Lincoln Cruise-o-matics.
