Single Seaters?
Has anyone ever built a small single seater for the road (similar to the SAE race cars)

and doesn't it look a great car  especially with the spoiler on, still think it should have side pods.

but it is significantly bigger than a fsae car but that is a good thing. fsae cars are very small as it makes them very easy to drive on the tight
courses but they would be awful on the road. also they are possibly the worst car imaginable to have a crash in with you feet well in front of the
front axle. but they are quite quick with our car this year weighing about 220kg and having hopefully slightly above 100bhp and without the restrictor
that could be alot more.

Problem with "small" is that being so low to the ground anyway the smaller you get the more vulnerable - I'm sure Nitram would agree
with me on this as despite being fluorescent orange & lime green I know some people still find his car invisible.
For something a little larger, with sidepods a second seat & impact protection take a look at http://www.furorecars.co.uk/

i basically am planning on building a sae-esque car using an r1 engine with sva capabilities. But im also going to be fitting a tow hitch to allow it
to be towed behind a car to track days etc

Mine is for sale by the way!
It will be at Detling this Sunday, weather permitting.
As to "feet behind the Front Axle", mine are behind the front wheel centre line and a bulkhead. I also have sidepods for some side impact
protection which are about 18" deep.

Because it is really a two seater like mine that has a fake airbox over the second hidden seat!
