DIY Aircon Regassing

Well, first hot day of the year and of course the aircon on the tintop needs regassing

Has anyone tried these DIY systems such as this?

Just wondering if they work?

many years ago i did it on an american car, with a hose that looks exactly like that, but can you still buy the gas? as i remember the gas is actually quite dangerous. I guess its all changed now though.

worked very well though

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I did mine on the tin top last year, got the stuff from halfrauds, can of gas and gauge to tel youif you have the right amount. followed the instructions and no prob;ems so far. that was from empty too, a the condener had been change. Needed two cans, but was worth the cost. Think the cans are about £17
Try this link

P.s if you want to borrow the gauge, i can post it you, then you can send it back when tou've done.

To do half properly you need to check the pressure in the system for that you need a gauge which Halfrauds sell.

Last time I did I needed two cans.

You can get aerosol cans that screw directly on but be aware you can get the refrigerant with or without compressor oil.
Mostly the oil dosen't leak only refrigerant is lost so if you use cans with oil included it can lead to excess oil in the system

Thanks for the replies and links. I think I'll have a go and see. Probably get one with the guage built in, though.

Note that not all cars can be topped up using these cans, the Ford Focus for one.

why can the ford focus not be regassed?

Lack of standard maintenance connectors? Different refrigerant?
