Bike carbs, cheap to buy, easy to set up, better fuelling across the range and more economical.
Enough said?

I have been trying to fit dellortos to a 1600 x-flow and I'm having trouble getting clearance with the cap/leads and the throttle pump actuating rod under the ft carb. I have decided I need either megajolt or webbers. Hence this
LINK.
Nick

Edited to say if you are already running how did you do it?

I have tried a cap but there was still not enough room on mine. I've got a Bosch dissy from a Fieste/Escort. What dissy are you using?

also a electronic bosch one, thats weird,

maybe just have the intake manifold skimmed on the motor side at an angle \ this will raise the carbs alot

i think i had to have that done for the carb to clear the top rails as i made my chassis 50mm higher

Skimming was another idea, but I was not sure about running the carbs at an angle.
Have you had any problems with fuel levels etc?

Twin 40's (Weber) on mine 1300 crossflow......
I admit they are not the most fuel efficient...but, I am happy with them!

Dellortos can be made to fit.

There are different manifolds available which caught me out first time round.

We were able to modify the pump lever on the front carb so that the actuating rod fits between two of the HT outlets of the Fiat Strada side exit cap (Fiesta/Bosch dizzie).

Biggest problem with Dellortos are that most of the ones available of eBay etc are the later emission carbs (suffix G-F-H-N-L) which don't lend themself well to much more than mild cams and use considerably different jet sizes than those specified in most tuning manuals.

If I was doing it again, I'd be going Weber 40DCOEs or finding out more about bike carbs.

Personally having run a ZZR 1100 in a race car on carbs and injection, carbs come a poor second.

1600 x/flow with an R6 set of carbs, ( R6 fuel pump mounted near the tank) mounted onto a Bogg Bross manifold, perfect choke size of 34mm and near instant response, Boggs did a mod to the carbs, hense they ran straight out of the box from them, I just need to sort out Megajolt, then i can take out the dizzy as well
