4-1 Merge Collectors

Hi,

I'm trying to find either a decent manufacturer of 4-1 merge collectors. (4x 1.5" primary - 2.25" out)

I've just spoken to s&s Headers, AZ - the cheapest makers I could find ($83 +shipping), and they ship all their stuff freight collect - which was a put off.. as the shipping cost is higher and your not 100% sure what the final cost will be..

OJzEng want £165+vat for the same thing,

Other US manf's vary from $170 - to $400 . .

Anyone know of any cheap suppliers . . I'm close to pulling my hair out..

:S

directions welcome..

a tad up in price, but very good quality

www.burnsstainless.com

note that collectors build from 4 seperate 7degrees angled pipes are better than the normal folded from sheet ones.

the ends your thinking of are Swagged ends.

Yes, I too saw the 4 sections used to make the merge collector, and would indeed have a go, but I can't work out how the joins in the center section are welded.. the outside obsivously is easy enough, not quite sure how you do the middle bit.. if it is indeed welded at all..

I'm a MiG person, and quite limited in doing intricate weldings as my welder is a Ferm130, mim current I think is 40-50Amps, none the less I'm pretty good for an amatuer.

I need a to beable to cut tube accurately, what about one of those frames for mounting an angle grinder in to turn it into a circular saw style cutter..

Any thoughts..

I'm now starting to think about going backward and use a formed collector - weldon type.

Once I've welded the 4 primaries together, I can get the die grinder out, and make it as smooth and as close to a merge as poss'.. I could even weld in a sonic cone in the center, and blend it into the primaries..

id rather do that than pay for something only a tad better..

Custom chrome in rotherham do them for £26 each and they will make them to your sizes.

For 26 quid they come in pieces and you will need to weld them together etc, not sure what they charge for fully assembled and finished collectors tho.

HTH

Edit: Sorry these are formed collectors not merge type.
