bump steer - how much do you have?

Having just remodelled and greatly improved the geometry of my front suspension, I seem to have a bit more bump steer than I expected.

I havnt measured it yet, but im wondering how much is normally acheived on the 'average' builder's car?

I have tried to get away with a standard rack - I guess im gonna have to get it modded ....

I've no accurate measurement, but since getting the rack modified, there is no visible bump steer. I'm sure there must be some as I positioned the steering rack and judged the amount the rack needed shortening with a steel ruler and a Mark 1 Eyeball! I think I'd be more than pleased if I'd managed Alans 0.5mm though.

I think that falls in the category known as "smug git"
I'd say that's better than most road cars.
Well done!

Alan, at which point have you taken that measurement? Rim or tyre?

Rorty, the figure is interpolated to represent the amout at the tyre (22" diameter, 11" radius))

I did it with a laser shining it's beam 10 feet away, and worked the figure back to get the 0.020"

The actual figure over 10 feet was about 0.218".....equivalent to about 0.020" at 11" radius
