Gearbox selection for Zetec
Following a nightmare return from Donington, the hose came off the remote oil filter connection resulting in a seized Xflow engine.
Anyway the 1.8 Zetec that is sat in the garage ready now needs to go in but the first question of many I suspect is.
The car has an existing 4 speed escort box in it. All the info on the zetec suggests the type 9 5 speed, do I rip out the existing box and replace
with a type 9 or are the advantages minimal. Am only looking to go to about 150 - 160bhp at the most.
Thanks
Ian

I was reccomended to use the MT75 gearbox from the dohc sierra with my Zetec. Many people are using type 9's, and one would have fitted easier
into my MGB, there is talk the type 9 isn't up to that sort of power but I've no 1st hand experience of a blow up. I'm taking the
advice and going with MT75 and modifying the trans tunnel.

What modifications are needed to fit a 1.8 Zetec from a 1992. Fiesta XR2 to a type9 or MT75 gearbox?
