Challenger - anyone actually finished one?

Only ever seen a couple as projects on here and one sold off unfinished - Just wondering if any have actually made it on the road yet.

Impressed by the Westy XI but price is stupid - Challenger looks interesting but quality and GTS rep not encouraging so wondering what current builders have found.

V8 Challenger anyone?

Cheers

Andrew

Seem to recall there was some discussion over the rear suspension arrangement (which wasn't as conventional as most locost / sevens). I think it was then modified & i'm sure i recall someone getting one SVA'd.

Mike is right.

The Challenger uses a de dion rear end with shortened sierra half shafts to bring it to the same width as the escort axle.

There are several finished ones about. Dont think any of them are on here though.

Yes - at least one to my knowledge.

do a search on posts by chaos999 and you should find a bit of information around Simon's car - he spent a lot of time and effort putting the original "demonstrator" through SVA.

IIRC, Original monoshock was replaced with 2 due to "interesting" handling characteristics. Can't remember if the solution was IRS or dedion, though.

That original demonstrator was IRS but the kit now comes with a slightly shorter de-dion as Flac says, GTS have had a fair bit of interest in these just lately, probably due to westie relaunching their one, they have sold 2 or 3 in the last month including one to a french couple.

From my brief research it seems like very few have bought the kit......

Do you have any pictures ?

Thanks guys......
