Insurance surprise:)

Flux sent me a reminder about a month ago. Up from £238 to £290. Thought that a bit off, so was just thinking about going elsewhere.

Get reminder from Flux about days ago (ins runs out tomorrow!!), back down to £235.

That's better, I thought. Phone them and get asked if any changes to policy.

Other than adding a pair of turbos and fuel injection, none.

"That's fine, no such thing as a standard kitcar, so you can do more or less what you want. You don't really need to declare those mods." Came the reply.

Me rather happy. Will buy ECU now I think

Well what's this I read in one of the rags recently, you have to tell the insurers about "any" modifications you make to the car.... The original question was with regards to seat belts on classics... IE you get a classic car without inertia belts and fit inertia belts and they may add to your premium for fitting add-on parts??? WTF!!!

Do you think I should ring and tell them about the Little Miss Naughty air freshner I just put on my dashboard?

I would still declare ALL mods..

Then there is no arguement later on sould anything nasty happen.

A phone call is hard to defend unless you have a recording or a transcript.

Best to play safe. If they say its no problem, then putting it in a letter or even an email shouldnt be one either.
They will be the ones refusing to pay out, and you are the one who could possibly loose out.
Its always best to tell them and in writing, then they will have a hard time backing down.

EDIT:
Insurance on my V8 Viento:
Last year I did the rounds, and Graham Sykes got my business with a quote of £188, fully comp me and the wife, 5k miles, etc. (First ever Kit car for me)

This year I was pleased when they only want £142 for this year. Thats a £46 DROP.

Then when I rang to pay up... I asked what the breakdown cover was for, ..Yup just breakdown, and not for accident recovery.
I already have AA cover, so they reduced the policy to £126.
Well Done Graham Sykes.

Geoff,

One of the first things said on Flux's phone line is that calles are recorded for training purpose and for the benefit of training purposes.

I will of course confirm the details of my conversation (and mods) via email once docs turn up
