Distance to Suppliers

I thought mapping out the factory distance from home would help me decide......

F27 image sports cars 268 miles
Aries Motor Sport 275 miles
Robin Hood 299 miles
GTS 304 miles
Mac#1 312 miles
MK Indy 312 miles
Tiger 318 miles
MNR 359 miles
Leugo , Another Country...well scotland!!!

........I can get a tractor fairly local

So distance can't be used as a factor.....maybe buy a welder with the petrol money saved!!!!

Rob

Hey, you have it light!
If I want to turn up at a manufacturers to wave a pitchfork I have to take a ferry!
(They don't let you take pitchforks on planes any more)

I decided on my mac1 after meeting them at the Exeter show, sat in the car 5 minute chat - job done.

Although it's good to visit them at their factory, it's not necessary.

Most of the manufacturers mentioned have big trucks now (mac1's modified tail lift made me smile) and could meet you at the show to deliver your kit ?

How about Raw Engineering in Hereford, Procomp and Westfield in the Midlands ? These three are more expensive - but closer if that's a deciding factor.

HTH.

I missed the show this year as I bought a mag about it the day after

I will probably go next year, hopefully to pick extra bits up

I don't mind traveling for the right kit, it just amazed me that most of them are the best part of 300 miles away.

I must admit i haven't look at westy prices as i assumed they would be to expensive. need to have a look

if you are going to Procomp then you can pop just up the road (comparatively) to see Chris (zxrlocost) who is an agent for MNR.

West Mids MNR agent linky thing

I guess you could pop up the M42 to see Aries Motorsport too who are maybe an hour away up the A38 and from there its under an hour to MAC#1 and MK arent too far away then either. Guess you would be looking at an overnighter though but surely to get the right car before waiting for a show next year it would be worth it.

How much is a travel lodge at this time of year?? £20 to £30 for a room depending on when you can go

How about the local library for a copy of 'The Book', then build your own from scratch?!

With all due respect, don't talk to us about distances. Some of us are a wee bit further than your furthest supplier, and can't even get some parts imported, whether we pay for it or not. The lack of distances Europeans have to go for things is damned near walkable to me.

Funny that My Brother lives in Vancouver and My Uncle lives in Nova Scotia, I think i'm nearer to my uncle than my brother and they are in the same country...Canada is massive

On a serious note, If someone was closer it would of been nice, just from a pop in and chat angle, But once I've made my mind up on supplier (If i don't go and buy a welder) I don't mind driving 300+ miles for it

(If I didn't like driving I would be buying a Seven type car ) LOL

I thought i was hard done by living up North. Mac#1 is 110 miles away. That is positively next door compared to living on some far flung peninsular called Cornwall.
