Zetec type 9 clutch components
Right this is causing me a real headache. Because the vendors won't help with the part numbers.
I am fitting a standard sierra type 9 gearbox to my 2.0L zetec engine.
info from Chrisg's site says I should use:
Escort flywheel Ford part No.1034879 - I have this
Clutch kit exchange Ford part No.5029603
Ford tell me this is the kit for a 1.8 16V Ford Mondeo (won't say what year)
Clutch release bearing Q’Hazel CCT 133. - this is a ford Capri release bearing.
Now the problem - I don't want to buy the clutch kit from Ford why pay for a release bearing (and a hydraulic one at that) I don't
need.
So I called the motor factors and found difficulty finding one who would sell me individual components rather than the whole kit. This is to do with
only warranting the kit as a whole.
Apparently the QH part numbers for what I want are:
Q10066 - clutch cover
C1189AF - clutch plate
CCT133 - release bearing
the above (except the release bearing are for a 3/93 - 8/94 1.8 16v Mondeo.
However the 1.8 16v Escort (from which my flywheel is from has the following part numbers:
Q10061 - clutch cover
C1187AF - clutch plate
I understand the Capri has clutch plate dimensions of either 190x25x23 or 190x22x20
The sierra 215x25.4x23
The Mondeo 1.8 16v 220x25.4x23
and the Escort 1.8 16v 240x25.4x23 or 220x20x17
basically I am now so confused as to the best mix of clutch components I thought I would ask to see if anyone can supply me either the QH or any other
manufacturer part codes for a combination that works. I damned if I am going to put this thing together only to have to take it apart again because it
is wrong.

I had the same problem trying to buy the individual parts so I this is what I did and it works fine, but I know that there are loads of combinations
that can be used.
I kept the flywheel that came with the engine (2 litre Focus) I bought a clutch kit for a Sierra 1.8 CVH part no. VCK3002 there are only two different
types of clutch for this type of sierra one is for the MT75 and the other is for the type 9. I did not bother with capri release bearing as there was
one in kit. All I then did is took a little bit of the bend out of the release bearing in order to give the correcr amount of pull.
From all the advise I was given I don't think that two people have used the same bits, everybody seems to have there own idea about what is
'correct'. Unfortunatly you can't really try it till it's all bolted up.

Thanks Stu I was kinda getting that idea. I have been prowling the Westfield and other seven sites and may have the answer just waiting for
confirmation. I will post here when I do.

I tried to buy just the friction plate for my type 9 V6 box.
3 places all wanted to sell a kit.
cost me 100 quid in the end

So you know exactly what I mean then Steve. The main issue is that the suppliers that will sell me indiviudual components won't take them back
if they are wrong, something about "special order". Must be a consumer law against this. Or maybe the special order exempts it ?
So you seen damned if I buy the kit
Possibly damned if a buy individual components.
I can see this costing me either way.

Right, trawled the Westfield and other kit car forums and groups and found the following:
Use the Ford 1.8 Zetec flywheel
Ford cover 93BG7563AA Mondeo 1.6 or 1.8 (93 - 96)
Ford plate 93BG7550AA, Mondeo 1.6 or 1.8 (93 - 96)
release bearing QH part no. CCT133 Ford Capri 1.3 , 1.6 (72 - 84
Equiv QH part codes
Cover Q10066
Plate C1189AF
I have been assured this will work and apparently these are the components (flywheel, cover, plate and bearing) that Westfield supply with their
cars.
Parts Direct in Derby also happily supplied all three components and cheaper than anywhere else I had tried.

Have you now tried this combination, e.g. Mondeo 1.6-1.8 plate and cover and CCT133 release bearing.
This combination appears in a number of locations.
I have 1.8 zetec engine complete with it's plate and flywheel that came from a 1998 mondeo so maybe will do the job with CCT 133 release
bearing.

I cannot say if this works or not, as I used thed orginal fly wheel. I can however tell you that the starter motor that I am using is of a 2.0litre
DOHC serria.

All fits when using 1.8 zetec flywheel on Zetec to type 9 box.
starter is
Lucus LRS543
(Small Body) (1.8 CVH starter I think)
Don't forget the spigot bearing (sierra one) which you tap into the hole in the end crankshaft.

Glad about that as I ordered the parts today! Got the Spigot bearing already.
Hoping to trail fit the engine this weekend.

Did you get sorted? and more importantly did it work???
I am getting to this very crucial stage and need help with mine. I have the release bearing but the clutch is proofing a problem with so many
different variations on the subject. Can anyone give a fully qualified answer?

All been in and working perfectly for the last 600 miles.
As detailed before:
Use the Ford 1.8 Zetec flywheel
Ford cover 93BG7563AA Mondeo 1.6 or 1.8 (93 - 96)
Ford plate 93BG7550AA, Mondeo 1.6 or 1.8 (93 - 96)
release bearing QH part no. CCT133 Ford Capri 1.3 , 1.6 (72 - 84
Equiv QH part codes
Cover Q10066
Plate C1189AF
and you need to fit the ford sierra spigot bearing into the end of the zetec crankshaft (already drilled to accept one):
Ford part number is FINIS code 1554973
no expert and maybe I got lucky but it worked for me..

You dont need the hydraulic one. Its the earlier cable drawn one which is much cheaper.
Where did u get the release bearing from? Im having trouble getting one.
