XE sump gasket - can I re-use it?

I have been using a 8V rubber sump gasket on my XE engine and I needed to take the sump off to get it repaired. Having replaced it I am having the devils own job getting a good seal. Can these gaskets be re-used or do I just need to bin it?

Hmm i'm on my 2nd Sump, 2nd set of cork and now finally an 8V rubber seal and windage tray and still can't get mine to seal!..

I would put an angry smilies but i'm beyond that now, luckily mines in a FWD car so it just drips occasionally onto the exhaust n smells a bit rather than leaving oily spots on peoples driveways.
It doesn't use very much and I got sick of removing the exhaust manifold tring to fix it

It seems to be a common thing, mine appears to come down the sump bolt threads and I have seen a tip where a particular type of loctite was smeared on them or the gasket. They also come slightly loose occasionally aswell.

P.S. If its an alloy sump as opposed to a tin one (with all the dimensional stability of a blancmange), Loctite 515 works well.
