Welder Settings

I'm having trouble with my welder.

The Weld which I'm producing is very pitted!

I can remember how to solve this (long time since I did a course. Can anyone help?

What kind of welder is it, mig, tig or arc?

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Pitted ? Does it look like a Rice Krispy ? If it does, you need more gas

Welding

Its an SIP Mig, caused me a few problems recently, I think thats quite common!!

The gas (argo shield Universal) is at about 14 litre per min now, so thats quite a bit but I will try a little more!

Somtimes it seems to work and then a minute later it all goes to pot!! very anoying!!

I found with mine that it pays to give the feed tube?? a good clean out. I flushed mine with some parafin and the amound of copper dust that came out was just unbelievable, worked much better after. HTH Ray

14 litres per minute is more than enough, can you here the gas hissing out the nozzle, are you welding in a windy location, garage doors open for example, or even outside.

Possibly you may have a faulty solonoid triggering the gas intermitantly

Cheers
