BEC engine package
Hi, looking for a bike engine package to go in my Indy. I have an interest in a GSXR1000 04 engine at reasonable money, but no Cdi and clocks. How
difficult will it be to find these parts and be sure they will work with the engine, or will they simply plug in?

Hi Andy,
Take a look at the linked thread below and don't be too quick to dismiss it for something newer...

The Ison blade sounds interesting, 158bhp from 900cc? Malc at Yorkshire engines gave some good advice, so probably wont be going for the GSXR engine
I spotted.

only thing about tuned bike engines is that unless they have been done well, then peak BHP is gained through loss in bottom end/midrange torque.
Sometimes both can be acheived, but ask for a dyno print to check.
THere are loads of engine options and if you search for references to malc, you will find he is a pretty top bloke!!

The engine is now sold, but you will find a print out of the dyno sheet on here if you search, all 12 pages of it, plotted every 100rpm with both bhp
and torque figures n graphs, also overlaid with 2 different exhaust systems.
158 is the figure on the sheet, on another dyno it may be 148 but I can confirm it pulls much much better than a std blade engine.

On Malcs advice, might need to save a few more £ than I thought to get a 03/04 model R1 or ZX10R. Seems sensible to spend a bit more, and these
engines should be fairly bombproof for track/hills.
