Fueling 2.0 Pinto
I wonder if someone could help me please.
I'm just getting to the stage of wanting to get the engine running and have a query about the fuelling.
The engine's an injection but I've got a set of Dellortos so want to use them. I've also aquired the fuel pump from a carbed 2.0
Pinto. Unfortunately, when I got the pump I was in a hurry and left behind the pin which drives the pump. And didn't get much of a chance to see
how it all worked.
I've been messing around with it today. Can I just confirm that all I need is the pin and this is just driven off a cam on the timing shaft (the
shaft that also drives the distributor and oil pump)? Or is it something more complex?
The injection timing shaft certainly has a cam that's unused but in the right place and the dristributor gears certainly seem to match.
Thanks- any info' greatfully recieved,
James

I doubt it Gaylord.
The standard fuel pump will easily supply twin 40's. When you get the rod try "wiggling" it in the hole(oooooer missus), some of
them are slightly bigger than others if you put a big one in a small hole(ooooer, again) they bind. Result = fuel starvation.
Make sure it slides in and out easily (oooooer etc...)
Cheers
Chris

error of my ways, I tried to incite more trouble via u2u. So now I'm banned, never to return again. They should have done it years ago!

Check the length as well James. I swapped one without looking at it once and it stripped the pump off the block mount.
yours, Pete.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

fuel
you should also check the fuel preasure as
the twin 40s need a lot of fuel volume but at a low pressure
i am building the same as you and have gone for a facet electric pump and a fillter king fillter/regulator just to be sure
good luck dave

But Chris, you told me it was the best way?
Anyway, Thanks eveyone for your help.
I'll look into the facet pump etc. but would rather save the money for something else if I can get away with the mechanical one.
So, that leads me to the next question....
does anyone have a spare drive pin/mechanism for the pump? I'd need all the components that go from the cam to the pump.
Thanks,
James

There's only the pin between the pump and the axilliary shaft, everything else (piston, spring etc.) should be attached to the pump.
I had loads but I threw them away.
This afternoon
There about a quid from the ford dealers.
Cheers
