the good old car boot
did a car boot at the weekend, how things seem to have changed in the last 6 years!
The rudeness and discourtesy by half the people at these places was terrible!
I parked up, within seconds I had a group of people going through my stuff before i had unloaded passing stuff around, don't know if anything
got knicked! i managed to hang on to anything valuable. When asked to wait for me to unload and get my little stall set up they all just carried on i
lost my rag a bit and told them to pee off as politely as I could, they all just stood there and within seconds carried on. Apparantly there wait for
half decent cars to pull up then decend!
The bartering techniques seem to come from a different definition, this is quite common... started on barter at 35 quid for two mobiles, finally
agreed on 28, they give you 25 and try and dissappear, when you confront them about your missing 3 quid, there response is 25 quid innit. you reply no
we agreed 28 and they claim they have got it, my response was then you haven't paid for the items please give them back, put them back in my car
and tell them to come back when you have the right money! normally they come back but how rude! i bet you wouldnt get that in a market in eygpt or
such like!
people trying to haggle you down from 25p to 20p just drove me nuts, i know money is tight but comeon, then they open there wallet and its full on
tenners which they proceed to pay with.
Then not wanting to pay even a reasonable price for good stuff, i had a colour portable tele, only wanted a fiver, by the end of the day i wanted 2
quid, I had a lot of people just come up, not even talk to you ponit and state best offer, my reply was 2 quid theyd just walk off tutting.... how
much did they want to pay!!!
The whole event was unpleasant and I hated selling good quality stuff to people who wouldn't know the difference if it came from the pound shop
or harrods!
I know times are tight, but the rudeness and complete lack of courtsey. I remember car boots being nice affairs with a good bit on banter when your
bartering for a bargain, sadly at this one near leicester I wouldn't bother.
And to top it off no one bought my lewis hamilton hard back (unread cost 19quid) even for 50p.
Still made half the cash I needed for my bodywork. and got rid of a load of stuff that would have gone to the tip!
Rant over. One tip of advice, park you car, lock it and walk off for 15 minutes then you should have time to sort you stuff out when you get back!

A sign of the times in this country, sadly.
Car boot sales are full of "professional" booters. They flock to newcommer's cars to pick up stuff cheap so they can flog it on at
higher prices on the same day. I'm told the trick is to leave your car locked until the vermin swarm around someone else a few cars away then
unload your stuff.
In general these days, if dealing with the public, expect to be treated badly.

I'll take the Lewis Hamilton book off you if its for sale?
I can only afford 20 pence though!
And its all in two pence pieces!
Seriously, if its for sale I will take buy it and help towards the bodywork fund, let me know how much you would like for it as 50 pence is a bit too
low! U2U me.

I'll raise you 10p on the book. 60p, who's gonna outbid me?
I think the car boot is hilarious, I saw a guy selling UPVC windows, and this old asian fella walked up and ask him if one specific window would fit
his house, the bloke just turned around and said "how the f*@K do I know, I've never been to your house" - I was PMSL for ages.
When I moved into my first ever house the old lady who had it before me had died and her family left everything. When I moved in I puy loads of it in
the cellar, and about 7 years later I dragged it all out and sold it on the car boot, I made about £50 just from the pyrex, I didn't even wash
it - hahahah
