Spongy Brakes /Master Cylinder??

As title , my brakes seem to be getting spongier , so I have changed the brake fluid and bled with my new Eezibleed (which is fab) , I found that if I pushed the brake pedal while the eezibleed was pressurised the brakes feel how I think they should , but after removing the Eezibleed they become slightly spongy again although better than when I started.

So I'm thinking that the seals are probably letting air/fluid past.

Do others have good success with rseal kits?

I'm not completely convinced and am tempted to try and find a new cylinder.

What do you think?

It is an Escort mk2 19mm non servo tandem m/cyl.

are the rear brakes adjusted? if you put the handbrake on, then pump the pedal, does it feel more positive?

Yes , I removed the drums and clicked the auto adjusters up with the handbrake cable slack.

Remove the brake pipes from the m/c and put in two bleed nipples. This isolates it from the rest of the system. if it is still spongey after you have bled it then the m/c is your problem. If it is ok then you can refit one half of the system at a time to isolate the problem area. Takes away some of the guesswork.

If it's Cortina calipers the odds are it is a siezed piston or pad in one of the calipers. --- if you have tin top type brakes hoses clamp off one wheel at a time until you track the culprit down. If you have braided hoses you will have to pull out each pad individually untill you find a stuck piston (or pad).

If that dosen't show up anything test the MC by removing the pipes and screwing in bleed nipples -- once bled pedal should be rock solid.

If you have to fit new seals to the mastercylinder it is an easy job -- only two things to watch for take care when removing the reservoir and make sure the pedal end of cylinder bore has all the crud cleaned off and given good coating of Castrol/Girling red rubber grease.
