For Sale: MNR VORTX RT

I have to sell my car, I've just found out this week that the missus is expecting twins so its got to go!

Fully SVA'd, currently SORN'ed, as its got the engine out with a suspected gearbox problem. (needs looked at by someone in the know!) Probably done less than 200 miles since SVA.
Will need trailer to pick it up.

Vortx RT
Yamaha r1 2001 (5jj engine)
Protech Shocks
15" Team Dynamics pro race 1.2 wheels, with 195/50/15 Kumho ecsta supra tyres
Sierra 3.36 differential
Quaife Reverse gearbox
brand new Dunnings+Fairbank propshafts (x2)
2x Brake master cylinders with adjustable brake bias
Fully reconditioned sierra brake calipers (by a company, not me!)
GRP Seats
r1 Dynojet kit (needles and jets)
SVA'd 27th June 2007

5800, or nearest offer (anything considered, even MPV's!) . cheapest MNR you'll find..

I would say that is way too cheap, I'd stick a grand on it and put it on pistonheads.

Even considering the time of year it should sell quickly.

having been looking for a car for a while, and recently buying one, i do agree that it is very cheap at that price, you could get £1k more, easy.

wow thats alot of car for that price. makes me wonder what i will get for mine if i sell it next year. tbh i would get the gearbox sorted as it will be worth more. if i had the space and cash i would snap it up, good luck with the sale because someone is going to get a serious bargain!

Does the car have to go? I have a new baby and I don't get much spare time anymore but I still enjoy the car. I went to Silverstone in it a week or two back. If you don't need the cash urgently, keep the car. You'll get more for it in the spring anyway.

BTW that price is too cheap. Pay a bike shop the £200 to fix it and add an easy £1200 to the price.

Interested in this. Any idea what's wrong with the gearbox, and rough prices for getting it sorted out at a specialist? Does the Quaife reverse sap power from the car?

Also what kind of power does the 2001 R1 put out?

Cheers

Rog!

Twins needn't spell the end of the kit car - trust me on this one.....

Image deleted by owner

As you can see I now have a 2.5 yr old son and 6 month old twins

I was going to seel my Indy when we found out the twins were on the way, but friends and family persuaded me not to. Then I managed to tw8t it into the hedge on my last run-out before the twins were born

OK it's been sat in the garage for 6 months whilst I repair it and make a few mods along the way and it won't be back on the road until next spring. BUT...the point is it's still there and provides a welcome evening diversion after the kids are put to bed (I refuse to watch ER and Ugly Betty).

It seems like a mountain ahead of you, but it really isn't that bad (after the first 2-3 months anyway).

If there's any way you can keep it then hold onto it for the time being!

replying to PM's at the moment (way more interest than I was expecting!)

heres some questions answered that would be of benefit to all:

Location:
South Manchester , Cheadle / Stockport

Diff:
3.36 non LSD

Fuelling : Carbed (2001 R1 is the last year of carbs)

Registration:
Its an age related plate, the same as the donor Sierra (G217 )

Yes I do realise that its far underpriced and that I would get more if it was fixed, but I cant see it happening as ive got too much other things to think about at the moment and its sad to see it in the garage, so i'd rather it went to someone that got some use out of it.

maybe in a few years i'll give it another go but for now I need a clearout so its a proper bargain for someone!

will have personal PM's to people shortly

cheers all
Rog

(edit) - forgot to mention in first post that its also got dynojet kit on.
