Revving X-Flow Engine

Erm more of an alternator question really, If I have the engine revving to 8K, would there be any damage to the Alternator?

Should I make it disconnect at a set RPM or would that be pointless?

Depends on the size of the pulleys and the rev limit of the alternator you are using really. I found with the setup i had as supplied by Tiger Sportscars i was revving beyond the specified limit for a Lucas LRA101 of 14,000rpm - found out after frying my 3rd alternator so fitted a Nippondenso one which was smaller and safe to 18,000rpm.

A bigger pulley on the alternator will slow it down

Or a smaller crank pulley - which will also slow down the water pump .

Could be wrong but IIRC the steel crank pulley from Burtonpower is smaller and worth fitting just for reliability as the standard one will self destruct

Got that all done with the pulleys, but wont it be running too slow at low rpm?

That's the trade off. Output will be lower or possibly even zero at idle.

But is a great excuse to rev the nuts off it!!

I'm sure you will be fine in normal driving conditions - so long as you dont start it and just leave it idling before switching off all of the time

You shouldn't have to worry about cold starting, heater, heated rear window, ICE etc so the electrical loads will be lower so a lower charging rate will be OK . I have a steel crank pulley etc on my Xflow and have no starting problems and our weather is much cooler than yours.
