PPC Mag did a review on these a while back and the German version of the AA came top. ADAC, they have an english call center and sub-con all the work to Green Flag IIRC. They got lower call out times than others and you could get full service and Homestart for the same price as a baxic package from the AA

Im just have the breakdown cover that comes with my insurence cover (paid about £30 extra for it) and im not at all unhappy. Again they just sub out to the local people

Only used it once, three days after taking out the policy.

Rang at nine and the bloke was there within about 50minutes which wasnt at all bad. The car was still a non started, and i did in fairness have to then wait five hours for a truck because it was the 8th september aka 'the day it rained' so people where falling of the roads left right and center and they where prioratsing motorways calls. On the two hour drive home (along the a50 a500, etc, which i have driven the day before on the way out) we past about 10 places i noticed barriers down that i hadnt seen before.

Only other thing was the insurence/breakdown cover had stipulated that the truck needed to be a demountable body one. Which increased the wait. Although it was a very posh (57plate, covered) truck!

I've used Greenflag on two occasions within the last year and on both occasiosn they were very quick and great service. On teh first occasion they gave me two recoveries (to garage, then on to home) with no extra charge.

On the second occasion they paid for specialist recovery to get a car out of an underground carpark 3 stories down without charging me extra for it. I daren't think how much it must have cost them.

Another vote for Brittania!! I've been with them for many years and have used them more than anyone should but they always come up with the goods!!
