Even more bad news

Airfield trackdays..............a nice 'safe' environment in which to find the limits of your car with plenty of run off..........

At Binbrook airfield yesterday I was out on my first session around the much shortened (about 3/4 of a mile!) 'track' (this word should be preceeded by the word 'farm' I was happily sliding round until about the 10th lap when I got a bit over excited and took to the scenery. Now as this was an airfield I was expecting a steady slide across some long grass and certainly not the large concrete block which stopped my progress. Yes we had been round on 3 sighting laps but I still would have expected a large block of concrete to be protedted by a straw bale or some tyres when it was only 4ft from the edge of the track??!! I'm now left with a wrecked nosecone, no radiator, bent lower front wishbone and 3 chassis tubes which need replacing......................off to see those nice people at MK next satd'y for a a grovel!

Cheers

Ben

ouch!!!!!!!!

remember doing an XR thrash at Binbrooke on the full (1.5 mile) track a year ago - fantastic day with the XROC and Gary Merrywether to thank for it anyways, i was in my sapph 4x4 and blasting round track belittleing nearly everything (even gave Muffking a run for his money against his 230 bhp rst) and on the 3rd session the red flags were waved and all the marshals run the fastest corner on the track (80mph, the left hander just after the hairpin at the end of the long straight - i no good with track corner names, lol) and a lad who was in our group had rolled his XR2 - shame really, but he had a camcorder mounted on the passanger seat headrest frame and the footage was fantastic - all you saw was the car face the wrong way at about 60 and then you heard "oh f**k f**k f**k s**t t**t c**t f**k and then the car rolled over twice and landed on its roof - not nice feeling when you see a trackmate go over like that, but he was OK and got out smiling - his missus wern't to pleased tho, lol
