My flyscreen top is about eyelevel, so I am looking at getting one of the open face type helmit like this:

for stone/insect protection. I prefer the open type for comfort and practicality.
My question is do these helmits have problems more with wind noise?? Are they suitible for the odd track day??
Anybody used an open face helmit?? All comments welcome.
I use a full face one myself (with the same screen as you) and find it gives good protection from noise (Pinto exhaust right next to you) and wind.
It also helps in the cold as you wear a neck warmer and zip your coat/jacket right up around your neck, tucked rught uner the helmet.
I think the one you're looking at would leve you with a cold chin
Open faced are generally noisier than full but earplugs are cheap and preserve your hearing, wind+exhaust =deafness and all that. Open face helmets generally also give a better field of vision. Can't recall but wasn't there something on here about some circuits needing MSA helmets even for track days??
the open face ones will sort of act as a wind trap, don't think it will be very comfy. i'd stick with a full face one. open faced ones are only really any good in a car with a roof and windows imo
I used to compete in my Locost with a tiny deflector with an open face helmet and goggles. They are slightly lighter and I feel you can get a better
fit with an open face as they spring a little when pulling them on.
They do act like a wind breaker though!
My wife has a Caberg helmet that's a lot like that one... she finds that the odd bit of gravel sneaks in under the visor occasionally.

It does have a slide-down sun visor, which is useful.
I bought this one. Nolan N103.
It can be opened and that gives me a good compromise between an open and a closed helmet.
I have NO windscreen.
Donīt forget the neckthing wich I donīt know the name of.
