After being practically rammed off the road three times in A WEEK.
What can I do besides carry a rifle or buy her a spudplugger?
spudplugger?
landrover, with extra nerfs
You know, land rover, range rover. Some sort of tank... One of those that will crush a tw@t in an audi TT without feeling the bump.
Thing is she doesn't want one, and what are nerfs?
Nerf's = nerf bars , nudge/bull/F off bar's - I used to have an old Talbot van with a very solid bull bar on the front , and no one ever cut me up twice
is it because she doesn't feel safe behind the wheel and she thinks that everyone else has got it in for her on the road?
buy her a crash helmet and american football style padding to wear?
No it's mostly because blind c**ts either won't let her filter in like the highway code says so, or some t**t in a van decides he wants to
not only be in her lane, but in the exact spot she's taking up.
This happens to me too but I'm not in a 106 with my children in, I've got a great big mondeo with airbags and a 5 star safety rating.. Once
I got hers fixed (some wiring thing) I'm gonna swap and see how long it is before it gets wrecked c/o someone else
Last week I had three people hurling abuse at me cos I was doing 45 in a 60, just like the car in front. It's times like this I really want a
rifle I'd sort the housing problem and unemployment problem in a matter of weeks

So what can we do about it?
Air horns!
Been here and sorted the problem by selling the very flashy smarty and buying a crappy 150 quid car that looks like S*** strange how people avoid
it
Mondeo rammed from behind breaking the drivers seat...and hurting her lower back.
Mondeo replaced by Smarty
Smarty rammed at the same roundabout
Woman who did it had cloned plates so we lost out. Smarty sustained body work panel damage only.
Smarty rammed at the same roundabout by a doctor.. who tried to get out of paying up. Smarty sustained body work panel damage only.
Got the smart back and the next morning the wing mirror got wacked.
The next wreck is going to be a stockcar with nerf bars all round.
I like it
Seriously is there anywhere I can get these bars, or at least an official name for them? I don't fancy googling "nerf bars" or
"land rover death bars"
Christ there's nothing for anything smaller than an L200...

You're building a car right? Make them! How about something based on Ministox?...

Swap cars with her for a bit? I notice if I drive the missus Cinquecento people try it on all the time cos they think it's some old dear or a housewife they can bully........that is until they see a 17 stone skinhead bloke driving. I was once cut up by some young lads in a Corsa and when we got to next lights I opened my door and started to get out and they wheel spun it straight through the red light. :-)
I have to agree with the above as I use to drive a wee white Cinquecento for about a year and had nothing but folk trying to bully me all the time.
Ended up totally sick of it and bought a big volvo.
I like the just drive a stock car though yeah I think you'd see the traffic just part infront of you

Fit her some air horns and teach her aggressive driving techniques so she doesnt give it up so easy.
If im in the right i move for no one. I had some twat in a white van come up beind me fast this morning and tried to push me over. I stuck my line
and slowed down when he flashed me. He then tried to undertake me so i resumed carridgeway speed. He slowed after that. Thats in a passat estate.
Even in the locost i wont give it up.
What you need to do is to sign her up on the IAM driving course. Here she will learn all about driving defensivly and how to be positive on the road.
The slightest hesitation will lead other drivers to think they can do what they want to intimidate others.
Thats why we don't get cut up when driving works vans or old bangers because other road users assume we don't care if we have a bump or
not.
Tyr to do something to help her now before her confidence goes completly.
My wife has a Daewoo Matiz, and she's always complaining about people cutting her up - I know what she means, as I drive it occasionally.
Trouble is, the villains get a surprise when they realise that the Matiz is going a lot faster than they usually go when driven by yer' average
housewife, and a lot more assertively!
There are some pillocks about though... drove to work this morniing, down the A12, in the pouring rain. Most people doing 60-ish and keeping long
gaps... one idiot with no lights on, tailgating, then going foot-to-the-floor down the outside lane. Statistics fodder....
My daily driver is a cinquecento sporting. Every driver on the road thinks that as its a small old car then they must be infront of me and if that
means pretending I am not even there then so be it.
Unfortunatly there is no magic cure to this. Some people will let you in, some are arogant twats (usually the latter). So I'm afraid you wife
will just have to get used to it.
Although some great advise given on this very site a few weeks ago, if someone is giving her a hard time, just give them as much room to pass as
possible, the quicker they have gone past her, the less time they are bothering her. And she may get a finger, and may get cut up, but she must NOT
react to that, just let the tossers go on their way. I have tried doing this recently, and even though its bloody hard to not react, its working. Just
remain calm.
And as an aside, my cinqy sporting may look slow and old, but the its got a few choice modifications that make it more than capable against the Rep
from Hell in his dull grey german box. The number of them that try and out gun me round roundabouts, or short stretches of dual carriageway. But then
get so easily denied. Oh you can see the rage in the rear view mirror.
left hand drive Volvo FL10 with continental plates

If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire: THE A-TEAM

I also find that coming out of a slip road in the Locost with the throttle wide open usually results in a space!
People either flash me out, or pull into the outside lane. When they pass me they usually have a smile on their face too.
I always give them a 'thank you' wave for their trouble...
Many years ago I ran a lightweight LR V8. One day I was on a dual carriageway, straight and level, no other traffic in sight - except for the car coming down the slip road. He/she/it decided that the perfect spot for them was the bit of road I was occupying. He/she/it suddenly woke up as I announced the existence of the invisible LR with a blast on the triple air horn...!
Unfortunately it doesnt matter how or what you drive.
I have done a defensive driving course and travel most of the time at or around the speed limit. I am curteous and will always try and let people
join.
Unfortunately people still fell that I am in the wrong when travelling at that speed in the middle lane overtaking a truck etc and endeavour to put me
off the road and I drive an Avensis Estate
All true, I think the IAM course will be a good idea. What's the one the Police do where they belt around country roads? (or is that the same
one?)
Think I shall be pelting her car with mud and hiding the cleaning stuff, then practicing my welding on the F-off bars. I've found they're
illegal but hey they're not bull bars, they're anti-w@*ker bars!
Problem with the recent situations are that she couldn't let anyone "in" or "out" or anywhere they could physically go...

I was going to say that - but then it was my crappy £150 car that you bought
She likes the F-off bars idea
She's even going to help me clear the garage this weekend!

Train horns as mentioned somewhere else on here recently. One of them ugly grandad masks with the curly hair tend to keep people away from you as
well....
I find watching out for the them and suspecting every thing near me to be a nutter helps me anticipate their moves. Either slowing down or speeding up
can get you out of the way of such situations, or drive in the inside lane like its designed for.
Ive put a 44ft box lorry up on the chevrons at a junction in a corsa before.
He pulld out into slip lane for the exit, cruised down it and then at the last minute indicated to pull back in, si on my faded red corsa I sat just
far enough back he could see me in the mirrors and matched his speed till he was buggered.
Its not big and its not clever but I was smiling for ages!
