Trackday question
mookaloid - 22/6/09 at 08:54 PM

for a track day only car (not road legal) do I need a full compliment of lights?

Ive seen of cars on trackdays with no rear lights, some with not even a brake light, but I would say for safetys sake a brake light should be a minimum

depends on the track day.. some require an MOT, some dont!

But at the minimum I would want brakelights, rain lights and indicators to let people past!

Hi Paul,

I wouldn't be happy with no brake lights - I don't want people driving into the back of me.

I was just wondering how keen the organisers are really.

Not seen any that needed an MOT yet - one to look out for...

Agree with Paul - nothing worse than coming up behind somebody a bit quicker than you were expecting because you have no indication that they are on the anchors.

Ah yes rain lights that makes sense. I would have thought that Hand signals were ok in an open car but if I'm putting brake lights and sidelights on then I might as well go the whole hog

I've done loads of trackdays, with different organisers, and not once been asked to show an MOT cert. Some stipulate the car should be to MOT standards.

....just noticed your signature thing... When's the Blackbird Indy getting it's first outing?

What about insurance? Do you have to have it? What happens if i spin and hit someone else? Will i get them coming up to me and giving me a kicking?
