I got my plates for my MK on wednesday, unfortunately I hadn't really had time for a decent drive until today cos of the weather!

I drove the 100 miles to Bogg Brothers this morning, half of it in drizzle I now understand the meaning of bucket seats

The dad (I forget his name) jetted my carbs and I had a good look around their massive barn at some very nice machinery.

Previously after 6000rpm the car was running extremely lean, but what a difference an expert hand makes!! The car absolutely flies now - and luckily for me by the time I got home the roads were dry again.

I have only really tried short bursts of acceleration, and definitely not cornered hard yet, but I can already definitely say in outright performance terms it will demolish any passenger rides in any car I have ever been in (TVRs, imprezas, ferrari 360 even!). Its almost like you are holding on to a rocket!

I have done a nut and bolt check, everything seems hunky-dorey. Only annoying thing is the steering column bush keeps on sliding back up the column.

So am I glad I have spent all my earnings and four years building this car?

My steering column bush kept sliding up the column because the odd washer thingy was missing. I used a jubilee clip to keep it in place and it's still there after 750 miles. It's a decent quick fix!

Did the same last week, 100 mile first trip, straight line acceleration great but a bit wary on corners, brilliant feeling to be at last on the road. Barry
