graememk - 17/9/09 at 05:19 PM

very basic kit in the indy.

Adjustable spanner, i have a spanner with 13mm one end and 14mm on the other a couple of screw drivers, nylon tie wraps, 2 or 3 hose clips, a small amount of fuel hose, black tape. AA Card

001Ben - 17/9/09 at 05:23 PM

Alloy wheel locking nut tool and AA card, seems to of worked so far.

flak monkey - 17/9/09 at 05:23 PM

Not a lot, some cable ties, a 10, 13, 17 and 19mm spanner and some spare fuses.

Anything more serious the AA card comes out

scudderfish - 17/9/09 at 05:24 PM

duct tape

AA man can take the wheel off, but he can't without the locking thing i'm guessing

Sounds familiar. Allen keys, spanners and a stanley knife seemed to do most things. Plus sundries of course, cable ties and gaffer tape. I was saved by a length of welding wire once.

locoR1 - 17/9/09 at 05:42 PM

Keep a tool roll full of the basic stuff in the boot and a small bag of nuts and bolts fuses wire ect.

Never needed it on my car yet but its came in very handy for a few of my mates cars

bassett - 17/9/09 at 05:54 PM

My leon has some safety stuff and a halfords motorist tool kit basically a various simple bits in a nice small wallet. Kit car has just a fire extinguisher and RAC card but once the boot box is done and for the longer journeys il get a selection of pipe clips, cable ties, two spanners sets as what use is only one size for say a suspension bolt and a small ratchet set possibly a breaker bar and sockets for a track day.

'What Tools?'

Just the 'tool' drivin the thing in mine

belgian2b - 17/9/09 at 06:48 PM

mobile phone and umbrella

Gergely - 17/9/09 at 06:56 PM

A couple of spanners, adjustable wrench, screwdrivers, pliers, tie wraps, length of wire (very useful for fixing anything), oil, rag.

PAUL FISHER - 17/9/09 at 07:17 PM

AA breakdown cover card, and a tin of Holts tyre weld, handy with no spare wheel.

whitestu - 17/9/09 at 07:29 PM

Jack, tyre weld, latex gloves so I don't get mucky, plus a Lidl toolkit, which for £15 has just about everything I might need and not too expensive to worry about getting nicked.

Humbug - 17/9/09 at 07:44 PM

Small mole grip
Small adjustable spanner
Selection of ring+C ended spanners - 8mm, 10mm, 11mm, 13mm
Spark plug socket
Hex key tool
A couple of stumpy screwdrivers
Small socket set
A few cable ties
Black insulating tape
Can of Tyreweld
Spare fuses
Spare bulbs
AutoAid membership number and phone number

Most of these fit in the lowest section of my boot, made to maximise use of space in the boot area by dropping down behind the diff. In the main part I have the socket set and a small wallet thingy leaving a reasonable amount of room for other stuff if necessary - mostly a kagoule and overtrousers.

Mark Allanson - 17/9/09 at 08:00 PM

A little Halfords kit (cheap spanners 8-19mm, similar sockets and 3/8 ratchet, 2 screwdrivers, pliers, pipe wrench, hammer, moles and allen keys) the whole box is 12"x12"x1.5" and fits behind my seat.

Small lidls fire extinguisher, holts tyre weld and the RAC card.

owelly - 17/9/09 at 08:35 PM

A hammer and a packet of Durex. If the hammer don't fix it, fcuk it........

Bluemoon - 17/9/09 at 09:01 PM

Thanks; good ideas there, some have made me smile

HOL - 18/9/09 at 09:01 AM

I have small tool kit in a bag with reversible screwdrive etc, that i found in a car down the breakers. (Misitbushi I think).

I also have a allen key tool and multi tool.

But I do carry a spare throttle cable, cable ties, some fuses and tyre weld. Not exactly tools, but usefull all the same.
