First time out for a decent drive. A good hour to a mates house and then Out and about. Had great fun until a funny noise started, a but I a whirring.
Backed right off and dropped my mate back home.
Whipped the bonnet off, prop was loose as anything! Not the prop to adaptor, but the adaptor to output shaft! Spent 4.5 hours waiting for rac!
Really annoyed, but also really releved no one got hurt.
Anyone know if it is possible to undo prop from adaptor without removing the prop so I can get at the main nut?
It might seem odd me asking but I had the prop fitted so have no idea!
As far as I remember, you have a live axle, which usually means slider at the rear.
That in turn means that you won't be able to simply undo the front section.
I'll find a photo of your prop if I can. (ETA - below!)
Having said that, You could simply unbolt the centre prop mount and then undo the front section, that would then allow you enough bending room in the
tunnel to move your prop out of the way enough so as to get at the nut.
This is prob the second or third time this year that an adaptor nut and not the flange nuts have worked loose, so just glad no-one was hurt...
Thanks for the reply joe, it's a bum I have to mess wih the prop but I just keep thinking how lucky it was that it didn't fall off! In fact the reason I think it didn't is the lack of room, so I guess I should be glad of it rather than moan eh!
My car has moved 100m since my prop came loose in September.... I am still putting stuff right...! Another close shave....
Mine reguarly comes loose, even when tightened with rattly gun and lots of thread lock.
have made up a prop catcher after reading other horror stories just in case.
If the bolt keeps coming loose cant you make a loctab for it? or event drill and wire it.

Thanks guys - I am thinking of using some sort of pin through a locator hole in the nut/adaptor.
Any thoughts?
Prop catcher is also in the plans, but I'd rather sort the problem as well as mitigate the risks.
A locktab is what they come with from the factory, obviously for a good reason!

very lucky, I am still off the road since mine came off in June.
mine came loose occationally, fortunately i also checked it occationally! Its ridiculous that such a serious issue hasnt been addressed properly.
Mine came loose after the 1st 40km. Not a lot, could just turn the bolt, but enough to get worried for the future.
Already made a propcatcher now.
Would it be a good solution to just drill through the nut and bolt with a 1.5mm drill and put some stainless steel wire through?
