What a great day
zilspeed - 21/4/04 at 06:37 PM

Four days off work and today it wasn't raining, so I took the locost out. Everything went great apart from breaking a wing stay - bodged with some araldite, a bit of ally channel and 2 tiewraps. That'll hold it until I can get it welded properly at the weekend.
I did some work on the car - went for a blat - came back - did some work - went for a blat - had a cup of tea - did some work - went for a blat etc etc........
The really cool thing - in a strange way - is that the combination of exhaust fumes, fuel from the "stand off" effect with the webers and the smell of the Castrol R in the sump make me pong a bit.
It's flamin' fantastic - what driving is all about.
Must go - have to toddle off down the shops - looks like rain.

Col

You're making more progress than I would ever have in that time ;-)

Yep - it' great to be out in the fresh air again. What surprises me, and I know it shoudln't have, is how capable this fairly modestly specced car really is.
Now that I'm starting to understand driving it a bit better and have the courage to tamper with settings a bit, although I don't see me ever setting those rear dampers to anything other than fully soft for the public road. Maybe find out the spring rates and look for something a bit lighter.
Then there's the interior to tidy up as well..

Zilspeed, wtf are those holes for in the rear panel on your car in the photo archive...

Surely not for speakers??

Cheers

WTF indeed.......

That 'ex' rear panel did indeed have two holes for speakers on it..

The bloke I bought the car off was a very nice man, he's built the car really solidly and the freshly rebuilt engine pulls like a train.
I'll tell you what though - he was no trim expert -

Still, I like the basic approach, so it's mostly all gone now and is being replaced with ally panelling. Nice and light, simple and easily maintained.

Sounds great to me. I can't hear anything apart from the exhaust when I'm driving mine... Just the way I like it. I agree with you no time for power sapping trimmings myself - nice and simple.

Cheers
