What to wear at a trackday?

I'm doing my first track day at cadwell on 5th march. Never done it before and wondered if i needed overalls, race boots etc.

I have uprated my roll bar (for my own peice of mind) and got a brand new helmet. Do i need anyting else or can i just wear jeans and a t-shirt?? (plus jacket gloves etc, we are in lincolnshire!!)

Anything you want that's comfortable but it will be cold in just a T shirt!

If you are in the Tiger you will probably need to have your arms covered. Who are you doing it with is it Javelin?

The rules are covered arms and legs plus a crash helmet. Wear layers so you can take off or put on clothes as the weather changes. Wear old clothes so you don't mind that they are ruined with oil when you have to fix your car. Take plenty to eat and drink. Take tools and spares, especially cable ties and tape. And your RAC membership card.

Make sure that you have plenty of fuel, it's suprising how quick it goes, keep your eye on all your fluids and most of all enjoy it!

I think its a PPC one?? not sure though. It was advertised in Kit Car mag.
Taking the tiger yes. A mate has a car transporter trailer and Navara. So plenty of room for tools, fuel etc. All good advice though guys.

Not been to one before but i am really looking forward to it, they said i could have some free tuition on the first 5 or 10 laps which will be great. I think i'm a good driver but i'm always willing to learn and also, i've never done circuit driving so some instruction will be good.

As far as clothes go, you need layers and a windproof jacket. Gloves and a balaclava for your helmet ideally. Helps keep you warm and also not sweat into it. Two pairs of socks works well too in this weather. If you've got another thin pair of gloves that'll help.

It's very easy to be warm all day even at freezing temperatures with just an aeroscreen. You just have to prepare!

Actually those are good suggestions for spectators as well, although it might be better to replace the balaclava & helmet with a warm hat! Race circuits have their own micro-climate which is usually windier and colder than everywhere else...

First time out take a couple of deep long breaths and relex. Trust me when I say that as you fasten the belts up and sit in the pitlane waiting to go out for the first time you will feel your heartrate climb up through the roof!
