I've noticed a great way to do away with the country's debt, and yes, its drivers who pay...

However, how about dishing out a fixed penalty to all the tossers driving around with fog lights on? I reckon just out driving last night I could have made a fortune from it!

And the annoying thing about modern cars, like my peugeot 308, is that if you just want the rear fog light on you HAVE to have the front fogs on, whats the point in that?

Because of a lack of due care and attention..... oh dear, that sounds like an offence...... oh dear, it is.

I witnessed some stupid tart driving a Chrysler 300 estate with fog lights on last night, as she turned the corner towards me and tried to execute a 3 point turn. Clearly an automatic, she struggled to grasp the concept of; Foot Brake, Stop, THEN Select Drive and rolled into a parked car backwards before then panicking that id seen something and driving off at speed mounting the kerb by about 2 feet.

The really dangerous thing, is that we were all there picking kids up from a party.

Unlike fog lights correctly wired DRLs are no problem at night --- the clue is the D for daytime in the name they should go off when the head lights are switched on.

The most dangerous driving I see on the roads is young mums driving people carriers/Toyota Land Crushers speeding to pick up kids, they don't give a pikey's curse for the safety of anybody else's kids.

Having said that in my are we are having an epidemic of drivers running very red traffic lights and observance of unbroken white lines is only a distant memory.
I never thought I would say this but we need more Police Traffic cars on the road in daylight hours.

i'd rather someone drove at me with low lever foglights (on the front) to give better visibiliy, that high beam, and taking a second to tun them off. they're not as bright, and they give a good view of the road, especially on unlit a roads.
i don't see the issue myself. they don't dazzle like a second of high beam does

We also need someone to tow the f**kers that park on the "School keep clear" markings.

In fact I'd be a traffic warden just for that!

Main problem with fog lights is they should in theory at least be set with juust below horizontal beam ------ bad enough on well surfaced urban streets but a menace on uneven country roads. There is also no requirement in the MOT to test fog lights are set properly.
In my fourth decade of driving I can count on one hand the number of times I have encountered conditions when front fog lights would have made any real contribution to road safety or ease of driving it might have been different in the smogs of 60+ years ago or if one had to drive over mountain passes at night.
Fog lights will never protect us from the flat cap geriatric who drives through thick day light fog in a silver car with no lights on, or the young idiot in a black Corsa on a black country road with custom blacked over lights with no reflectors and black and silver number plates.

The problem is most drivers don't actually think about driving or road safety , they get in a car and switch it on end of story.

If you find fog lights make any contribution to road illumination in normal night driving there is something very wrong with your head lamps.

im with british trident there, there is simply no need for front fogs. The only time i wished i had them was once when driving too fast in fog, so people are more likely to see you in their wing mirrors - but in reality, one shouldnt be driving like a lunatic in fog so really i should have slowed down, rather than wishing for front fogs to make it safer.

Rear fogs are a pet hate mainly because people forget to turn them on or off promptly. BUt thats par for the course really, as there are so many useless drivers; there are countless things you could moan about.

I have a pet hate for this and currently return the complement just 0.5 or a second before passing I put back on the full beam. It just let them know that you are not happy with their lazy unconscientious driving style.

Or if I've got the cibies on (4 x 100w bulbs!!!) , I give them a short flash with them!! They soon put theirs back on dip!!!!

Not sure what people's problem is with front fogs, mine point so low that I couldn't use them instead of headlights for normal driving. Also if they're coming toward you they soon pass, whereas the guy I'm following with the rear one on ends up hurting my eyes
