Thinking of buying a 4x4, always had jeep cherokee's in the past on LPG. But as fuel prices have gone up so much what should i buy with my £3000 i have got to get a 4x4 Help please i cannot decide what to get.
My answer will always be - Landrover
What will be it's primary use ? That would influence my answer on WHICH Landrover
I think we need to know what you will use it for before we can be of any help

Day to day use and towing my trailer accross fields now and again. have a van at the moment and been stuck 4 times this year.
also depends on how long you want to keep it for. An old landrover is fine if you want to maintain it for years and loose no value, but if only for a
few years you may as well buy a modern jap motor that wont break in the first place. Towing trailers over muddy fields is something any 4x4 can do
really.
What weight trailer too?
Nissan - Navara... 2.5L or 3.0L V6 Diesel. Used to be one the quickest 4x4 on the market. Got some major grunt and does comfortably the right side of 30mpg.
my 2.5td cherokee is under 25mpg most of the time
And my 1600 Lada Niva does around 20mpg......

Shogun here, goes about 28mpg. Never rev it above 2500rpm
For fuel consuption on a 4x4 watch the Tyres - Stupid big MUDS = Lots of Fuel Per Gallon.....
For me sounds like Double Cab Pick up. reasonable mpg & capable of towing offroad.
Or a Older landrover discovery and run it on Veg OIL (200TDI)....
Rules on Veg oil have changed and you can use something like 2000ltr per year before you have to declare. (but no many people know that)
Why not run the JEEP on veg OIL ?
