I am looking at a trackday at Lydden Hill.
Has anyone on here done one there,if so what is it like there?

Haven't done a track day ther but used to race karts there , should be ideal for Locost although not very much run-off in some areas.

Geoff_T on here has done it a few times

Great fun, you can whiz around quite happily but limited run off.

Very relaxed, you can even take your dogs just keep them on a leash.

As it’s based upon the side of a hill you a good ascents and descents with undulations on the big bends, when you get it right you fly around.

Also free tuition, so the second briefing finishes grab the chap for the second session if possible.

You need to enter the inter class, even if you have never done this before as you will be easily fast enough to keep up.

Only down sides are:

You have to double back upon yourself when arriving from London on the A2, its easy to take the first road to the right and end up in a narrow lane, I still do this and have been there a few times  so watch the signs.

Limited if any shelter, take a gazebo if possible if the weather is looking a little grim.

Regards Mark

Yup, great little circuit, ideal for 'seven' type cars, with a good mix of corners contained within it's just 1 mile length. Great for spectating too, as you can see round the entire circuit from almost anywhere on it.

Unfortunately just a bit of a long hike down to that corner of the country for me, just wish it was a few miles nearer....

I have been and i agree with above.
Dont do bigineers as its full of mk2 golfs having a race.

Great circuit though and very relaxed.

I've been there several times, great little circuit.

Here's a video of one of my visits.

Hi Tony. Lydden is a great little track and my local circuit technically but so is Brands Hatch so only been a couple of times. There next track day is thw 3rd September and I plan to be there.

They have recently started doing £20 for 20 minutes during there trackdays now so you can pay £99 for the day or the per session £20 so you can manage your costs for the day and you can just turn up on the day.

You won't be dissapointed if you go.

Thanks for all the replys and links to your videos.
It looks like a fun little circuit.
Are all trackdays sessioned or open pitlane.
I share the car with my brother and do trackdays together.
If it is sessioned, does this mean we can only enter in one group and do alternate sessions?
Thanks
Tony

sessioned

You can passenger each other and take turns or enter inter and pro classes

Thanks for that Mark.

I had a phone call yesterday inviting me to do a trackday at Goodwood on the 3rd September, which i am going to do.
All i need to do is quieten it down a bit.
I love Goodwood but i will be going to lydden as it looks great.

Cheers
Tony

It's a great track for sevens, and they also play "big boy's rules" - i.e. overtaking is allowed on both sides and anywhere on the track, albeit by consent only (it's not a race.....!).

Much better in my mind than the usual "overtake on the left on the straights only" rules usually employed by Brands Hatch and the like - fast tintops will murder you on the straights and then hold you up through the corners - very frustrating.

Lydden is highly recommended - I'll be there next time I have a free weekend. Cheap as well.

Admittedly, the last time this was a problem I was at Bedford Autodrome with a 1600 Xflow.... not been back with my lorry turbo fitted yet!
