Blyton Park Video

My video from the day, chasing adithorpe through traffic: -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1EUnJ9CH3M

Was a great day, right up to the point my gearbox went pop! Still, better to go pop at 4pm on a trackday in October, than go pop at 9am at a trackday in May!

Great little circuit, too.

love it.

watching it on work TV. got 30 people crowded around lol

Nice one!

Hope you manage to sort the 'box. I could hear than clunks earlier before it went completely like you said yesterday.

marco - 3/10/11 at 02:07 PM

Do you get any indication with the bike boxes when its on its way out, or is just all of a sudden?

gingerprince - 3/10/11 at 02:12 PM

It had jumped out of 3rd a couple of times before during the day. My expectation was that it was just my solenoid needed readjusting and it wasn't fully engaging all the time - didn't expect the final bang!

Nice vid!
Mine started chucking oil out of the breather pipe/catch tank, i'm going to investigate tonight!
Great Day!!

You have confused me now, never having done this and watching them for inspiration. I thought all overtaking had to be on the left?

It is spelt out at the drivers briefing left or right depending on circuit?
Nice video and I like the graphics

The circuit was anti clockwise (clockwise is the norm) so i guess this is why we passed on the right!
Soon got used to it...

Yep, since in a clockwise circuit, the majority of corners are right-handers, so passing on the left allows the faster car to maintain the racing line into the corner. Also I guess it stops a faster car trying to overtake into a corner, lose it and slide into the slower car.

Enjoyed that Si, .. long time no see, where you bin? Will have to get to Blyton some time, it does look good.
If you get the gearbox sorted there's a few of us booked into Cottesmore with Javelin, 29th Oct. Would be nice to see you there?

laptoprob - 3/10/11 at 05:40 PM

Was a great day in all for me with no probs mechanically......(im touching wood)

Nice to see you all there and hope to catch up with you soon.

Nice vid by the way, what setup/software are you using?

Times just gone against me this year, and cash has been a bit short - Mrs got made redundant so no second income means less play money! Be surprised if I get roadworthy for the end of October, got no spare weekends so even getting it dismantled by then to find out what needs replacing might be a struggle!

Camera is a ContourGPS
Software is Dashware which basically uses the GPS data stored by the Contour - it's really clever the way it figures out the track shape and lap times from the data (though it put the start line in an odd place!).

I would have put data from my digidash on too, so get accurate speed and gear readings, but since I put a new prop magnet on, one of them must be slightly stronger or misaligned because the reading was all over the place!

Camera is good video quality (720p at 60fps or 1080p at 30 - the former better for action) - only downside is it has built-in mic so you hear all the wind (and the lens rattling!) The latest camera (Contour+) has a mic jack so would be a lot better. I may eventually dismantle this one and stick a wire from it

Nice one Si, shame about the gearbox, Ive got to get myself a track car again for next year, I am missing my trackdays now

Looks familiar Andy, since I sold it to Gaz he has not had time used it, would be a good buy for someone, its a great little track car, I am wanting something like a Global light, a old radical or something along those lines, but will have to sell the SRT6 first.

gingerprince - 6/10/11 at 10:09 PM

Well, that explains the noise! 3 teeth sat in the sump.
