Idiot!!
marktigere1 - 11/8/04 at 08:07 AM

Had to share this from my drive home last night.

On the A11 near Norwich (dual carriageway). Lorry overtaking a second lorry with four cars behind it in the outside lane.

Me on the inside lane behind 2 cars behind inside lane lorry.

In the outside lane comes a green Kawasaki and decides he cannot wait.

Zig zags between the collection of cars behind the lorries (Matrix reloaded style) and then unbelievably drives BETWEEN the two lorries

How he wasn't killed I don't know!

I've seen enough carnage on the road to know that he was VERY lucky as the outside lorry started to pull across moments later.

Prat!!

Sounds like Ghostrider.

If you haven't seen Ghostrider, it;s worth a look. Very irresponsible, very dangerous but good to watch. Makes your jaw drop and your toes curl up.

Ghostrider is awesome, that man must have balls of titanium!

me in fast lane on M6, overtaken by a st1100 pan european (big bike!), yes i said OVERtaken not UNDERtaken, he was riding on the rumble strip thingy and on the 6 inches of surface beyond that, i was probably doing about 80 at the time - scared the kack out of me

Is it bravery or total and utter stupidity?

On my estate we have teenagers riding hairdryer powered mopeds that think its fun to pull weelies and weave in and out of the traffic

Sad really!!

Sadly, I was sitting in my car on the M25 this afternoon, a couple of hundred yards from my 'off' junction, waiting for the Essex air ambulance to land on the carriageway, collect a motorcyclist, and take him away.

The only other car was on the outside lane, with a smallish dent in the rear door. No idea who caused it, but the many motorcyclists on the road were driving very cautiously for a while after seeing that...

it's bravery if they get away with it
stupidity if they don't

but if they hurt other people, it's called "grossly irresponsible", or possibly causing death by dangerous driving.

I don't mind motorbikes making extra lanes for themselves in traffic jams, but weaving in and out of traffic moving at the speed limit is pushing the bounds of reasonable behaviour imo.

As a huge fan of bikes and a long time biker I have to say that iding like a tw@t is exactly that. There is no excuse. Many car drivers do not look for bikes so irresponsible and wreckless riding does nothing to improve the publics view of 'bikers'. Also its grossly unfair for the car driver when he is involved in fatal accidents that are not his fault.
A bike will out accelerate any car and can overtake safely with far less clear road space than any car so there is no reason to act like a prick and ride dangerously.
I know I'm ranting but I feel strongly about this.

And at this moment you are far more qualified than most of us to comment on driving/riding skills!

(hope that you're healing up well)

I used to go to the BMF and was always amazed at the behaviour of riders as I was coming away with my wife on the pillion. I would be in the inside lane riding normally and could see bikes coming in the mirror at ridiculous speed and passing within inches of us when the other lane was completely empty. If either had wobbled or swerved for something it would have been very messy. Nothing to do with your accident but I think that riders are not always as considerate as they think cars should be.
