Just thought I'd let you know how I got on at the weekend - 2 track days at Kirkistown.
Sunday,
2 hours drive there, race like looney in the wet, 2 hours drive home.
Monday
2 hours drive there, race like looney in the dry, 2 hours drive home.
My car behaved very, very well. Only problem was on the second day a photograper from 'Total Car' (?) showed up - it was a TVR track day -
and my car was absolutely covered in gutters! If anyone sees the mag keep an eye out for a totally mud-splattered black MK showing the TVRs the
way!!
I had my first off - outbraking myself going into colonial 1, and going straight into a run off area - but I definitely am getting a lot quicker than
I was on the first couple of track days.
Unfortunately it's not all good news, as my mate Brian's Locost Blade's gearbox exploded on the Sunday - it's gonna need a new
basket, plates, the whole nine yards. Still, he had put well over 20,000 miles on it over the last 4 years, so it did take a fair bit of abuse.
I also saw a beautiful red, mid-engined, Blackbird powered Ginetta, unfortunately the owner of this car was caught on slicks in a heavey downpour and
slid into a bank wrecking the rear passenger side suspension.
Well there are risks in doing track days, but they are worth it - very rewarding.
All the best
