First outing for 2012
Westy1994 - 9/7/12 at 09:44 PM

At last - got the thing taxed today, I didn't pick the best of days, but at least it never rained whilst I was out. The lanes were pretty muddy and on arriving home the car looked liked it had just done 4 stages of the RAC rally, mud everywhere, including on me.

But wow, great to be out in a 7 again after almost 12 months off the road.

Just hope the weather picks up a bit..

So - you've been out - where did you get to and where's the obligatory photos?

Just went over Wyre Steve, was on my way to a mates house, unfortunately the main road was closed due to some boso overturning his lorry just before Pilling, that meant using all the small lanes to get where I wanted to go, and also the reason why I got so dirty.

Didnt take pictures, you would have not seen much anyway, just a vague outline of a 7 that had been thrown in a big bucket of mud. I should have taken the tintop really, but wanted to test a few bits on the car before any runs out with you guys, found a few oil leaks that need attention, but then it's a crossflow - thats what they do isn't it....

A few little shakedown trips is what you want first - sounds good.

Found the oil leak, thought I had sorted this a few months ago when I first started it, stupid little O ring on the oil pump cover.

Seems these are not a service part, and whilst no doubt I could match it up with another O ring from a supplier, I really cant take the risk of it being wrong and leaking again. Just ordered a whole new pump, annoying for the sake of a dam O ring, but that's life.... Shame really the weather looks ok here at the moment as well and fancied more shakedown time..

Pump should be with me by the end of the week.
