It was great crack, and it was really good of the GTI club to donate all the track day cash to the MacMillan Cancer Nurses charity. You could bid to get a lift round Kirkistown in Dennis Biggerstaff's Metro 6R4, or for runs in a Ferrari and a Nissan Skyline. 4,600 quid in total was raised.
I think I managed about 40-50 laps and 2 1/4 mile runs (I made a mess of both starts but managed 14.6 secs or so) all for 55 quid.
Not bad eh?
And yes, that's my new(ish) re-sprayed bonnet!! I must update that avatar sometime this year!

Scotlads bonnet nearly came off at knockhill.
Those shitty rubber SVA approved catches are not much cop. Nova Niel Duck taped the catch closed.
lots of fun to be had safely away from KOJAK`s KODAK. Cant wait to get mine running.

I agree totally about the SVA bonnet catches, I now use 4 decent stainless steel catches and they seem OK. I also made a wee clip that I sikaflexed to the underside of the bonnet that slips under the nose at the front to stop the bonnet coming up (a bit like westfield's solution).
I also cut some small slits in the side to allow some of the air to escape from under the bonnet - I then covered these with Car Builder Solutions chrome louvres - you can see them in the pic near the indicator repeater.
I swear the SVA makes a car more dangerous not safer as it's supposed.
