Hi all
Well there was big news this week, the sun was out in Scotland for 3 days!! No panic its back raining today.
Any way took the car out for probably the last drive of the year as Im away on holiday for the next week and a bit and the gritters have been out this
week. Took her up round helensburgh over the rest and be thankful and down to Inveraray. Stopped off on the way back by Loch Lomond for a breather.
Car behaved brilliantly until 5 miles away from home when it developed a missfire under load. I think the car is psychic and doesnt want to be put
away for the winter.
Let the winter mods commence......................
drive
Looks like a lovely location there chap
Very atmospheric piccy
Must visit Scotland again, haven't been for some years, missus has never been so that's as good an excuse as any.

Decided I was running out of good days before the council start salting the
roads again. I set off to remind myself what views I missed on that last
aborted trip to Oban. I decided that Oban was a town too far for today, so I
headed up to Tyndrum towards Oban on the A85 to Dalmally, then turned on to
the A819 to Inveraray, A83 to Tarbet, A82 to Balloch then home on the A811
to Stirling. A total of 4hours and one tank of fuel stopping off at Tyndrum
to warm up with some hot soup.
The views were great but the temperature was Baltic on the first leg to
Tyndrum. I set off at 9am with an extra sweater and a double layered jacket
and a woolly hat, not nearly enough I discovered. The temperature was below
freezing overnight and little better at first light. I sopped off just
outside Callander and put on the Hein G? suit in addition to the rest of the
clothes I had on already. At Tyndrum I had to stop as I was still freezing,
I just had to give in and put on my WW1 aero lined helmet. After my stop the
weather warmed up a bit, now 11o'clock, the sun was well up in the sky and
I headed over the hills. The views across Loch Awe were spectacular. I was
not hanging about so I headed towards Inveraray. More spectacular views
across the sea loch towards Loch Fyne. Up and over the Arrochar pass and
down to Tarbet.
I don't know if my route today was any part of the trip originally planned
but the views were great anyway despite my frozen neither regions?
The bad news is some of the roads had evidence of salt already not the
gritty stuff but white rime of the ground in variety from earlier in the
week.
