I'm guessing the police have investigated the scene and drawn conclusions from what the driver said. Being a 75 year old kit car driver I imagine it's possible he has done what many are too weak to do and held his hands up to making a mistake.

The positives here are the car stood up to the impact quite well so it seems - The chassis looks like it did a good job in protecting the chap.

Not great, but as typically the case with our cars, while without the body a normal car would have in that area the wheels and front wishbones etc are left to take the impact and hence look quite dramatic, the cockpit/passenger zone has held its shape well and the car appears to have remained upright.

Nobody wants to be part of this sort of a thing, but I doubt you would be much better in an MX5 or similar production vehicle.

As said, we don't know what the driver has said, no do we do know his knowledge of the road, or his current condition.
- If he has said nothing, it is an inappropriate conclusion.
- If he is critically or significantly injured it is in bad taste unless he and his family have approved it.
- If he is new to the road, admitted his error, and well I see a lot less harm in allowing others to take heed from his mistake.

In my opinion the latest way of maximising transmission of information to a wider audience of the risks out there identified by the police and by it being highlighted also on this forum proof it works, as for aportioning blame though I don't know

I didmore damage to my tin top alloy at 30mph. Sheared a 6" slice right away from the spoke. All inside the speed limit. Just depends how you clip what.
