Now that I've been out and about Suffolk in my little toy car I've been surprised by the reactions of other people as I go along.
I've had cheery waves from walkers, drivers moving towards the curb so that I can overtake them, and loads of grins from everyone. I
haven't yet encountered a clearly negative reaction. The only 'dodgy' encounter was a local boy racer in his VW Polo who was hoping
that I would race him (I couldn't be bothered) - he gave up and did a U-turn after a while.
Is this a general reaction, or is Suffolk just a happy place, or have I been very lucky?

Having just spent the weekend in Aldeburgh I can confirm that the Suffolk people are indeed a cheery bunch.
I spent most of Sunday down on the beach watching the lifeboat crew trying to retrieve their launch trailer. They managed to let go of the rope whe
they launched it the night before. 22 tons and £100k sat somewhere off the beach in the north see 
Even though they were in a spot of bother, they were all in very good spirits.

I've found that people's reactions are generally positive as well. Being 22 I thought I might get a bit of hassle from the local chavs but
I've actually had a couple come up and chat to me and tell me how nice the car is!
Have also had quite a few girls waving as I drive past which is good for the ego

One of the best bits about driving the finished car - everyone is USUALLY pleased to see you.
People in general want to talk about interesting cars. The few that don't are usually humourless barstewards.
I took the GTM to work last week and on every visit that I made during the day, everyone wanted to talk about the car. From the old couple in their
70s to the young guy with the brand new M3 - they all wanted to talk about the car. It certainly makes your day a bit more bearable.
I got a negative once....
From an young asian lad - saying "I'd rather have a Micra, it's got more cred"....

I find most people like the car. most people move over a little to allow overtaking....not that it matters as I get past in any case.
Porshce drivers are a little different, you can see them trying not to look in the mirror as you keep with them even though they are thrashing the
nuts off their Boxster down the first straight bit of road you come to.
Even the local Hot Hatch boys are OK although I do shudder at some of the overtaking risks they take!
I'm not on the road yet, but noticed a very positive reaction when a mate once lent me a 1949 MG TC for a weekend.
Everyone just grins at you.
