best way to launch?

Not that i condone dangerous or reckless driving in any way but we all like to show up the Chavs at the trafic lights.
When the lights go green what do you guys find is the best way to acheive maximum acceleration ?

Reverse.....scare them witless

rev the bollox off it and dump the clutch......if your brave enough.

a good start needs about 6000rpm in the R1 indy then let the clutch out. Takes mucho practice to get right though without too much wheelspin.

In a CEC about 3000 - 4000 rpm and do the same

have fun

id agree with paul. It does very much depend on your engine, with turbos i find it better to be gentle on the clutch to avoid it bogging down. In the scooby i used to rev it to 6k, come off the clutch quite sharp but at full throttle, and hope it all met up in the middle at about 3k, on full boost ah, those were the days

my locost doesnt seem to wheelspin too bad, it just jumps and tears off, so if its in a straight line i usually just abuse it

Chavs!!! don't yer just luv 'em

No, give them all the show - the torque reaction, the howl of the exhaust...

As the lights turn to amber, just do a normal mature take off. They will be screetching and howling the poor little 1124cc saxo engine, all the drama.....

Everyone else will be splitting their sides at the little tw@ts

With a larger engine, second gear, loads of revs and dump the clutch. Result = Bugatti Veyron-esque 0-60 times (apparently) But only if you don't fry your clutch first

Agree - you're better than them aren't you?

Deffinately sounds like the best tactic for chavs but what if you're up against a smug git in a boxter or something, now its your reputation at stake and you must be quicker.

Boxster's... poxster's.... don#t stand a chance upto 100

Go for smooth control, they will probably manage to stall it anyway. I've managed to burn off boy racers with the range rover using that method before now.

To fierce with the clutch and things start to come appart. Many a car has died when profesionals are trying to get the fastest 0-60 possible out of a car.
Not to much room to slide your foot sideways of the clutch pedal in a severn chassis either.

Easy to beat a chav at the lights.
As the lights go amber, Point at something and shout, "Look over there!" Then just pull away normally.
Simple.
