Im using an aero screen on my locost, i have a problem wen I get to around 60mph i fing it hard to breath, is it just me or do any of you suffer the same thing? im now going to fit a full screen and try that.
i aint got any type of screen at all, your breathing comes back once you get over the 100mph mark...........
i got a full screen,it gets windy above 30 above 60 i gets a bit breathless, the trick(so i am told) is to put a horizontal strip along the top of the screen frame to divert the wind over the top, could try something similar with your aero screen
How about wiring in a scuba bottle? Then you could get NOS, and fire a bit of that into your supply when you want a "laugh".
Kingr
that sounds a good idea! didnt think of that
geeeeeeera helemt on...........

Spyderman - you ever tried driving a Locost without grinning - don't work
Marcus
Full screen with sidescreens is the only way to go I'm afraid if you want Rolls Royce levels of refinement. Dulls the experience a little tho'.
i agree with Spyderman - It's not that you can't breathe - It's that you forget to!
('specially on a bike)
i agree with J Ison too - solves the flys in teeth problem -
the aero screen is more like a fly screen, its a Stuart Taylor one, As soon as i leave the driveway im grinning, i dont mind the flies.......its the
bloody wasps down your collar!
Im going to try to re angle the screen.

Isnt is illegal to wear a helmet in a car? this was what i was led to believe but am not certain!
just a thought
James
Good point - dunno about illegal but dont the insurance frown on it (ie your more liely to be a racer)?
Anyone know the story?
never had a problem, seen plenty o plod, you won't see many 7's on motorways with a helmetless driver at the wheel..........
This keeps coming up, dosen't it?
It is not illegal to wear a helmet in a car.
Plod confirmed.
Cheers
Chris
but i have been told i have problems with windspeed else where ?????
John,
Wing walkers (in the good old days) didn't use any protection, apart (maybe) from a set of goggles.
It is something that concerned me - I did a little experiment, holding an airline in front of my face, and let it blow.
I think it's not so much as forgetting/being unable to breath (your body won't let you not breath for too long - you'll faint), more a different
sensation that you aren't used to.
Ie pressurised air gets forced into you.
If it concerns you that much, get hold of a motorcyclists mouth/nose warmer (stiff type/velco fastening) - that should keep wind of your face so
breathing will feel more natural.
Alternatively, make a concsious note of how deliberate breathing feels (control it, rather than let lower body functions do it!!).
That's my 2 € worth, and might be rubbish. I understand your prob, and have tried to explain it, just comes across as jibberish.
Hope it helps.

I thought there was something for motorsyclist to wear, i fint it more of a problem wen the air is cold ( not just a sunny day driver me, hail stones
hurt though!) the first mile or so im breathless almost...pulling really stupid faces for all to see! you cant hide in a locost!
Im gonna try the helmet..although dont want to wear one all the time
A simpler solution is to wear a scarf across your nose and mouth.
It's what I did on my bike with an open face helmet.
It also filters out the flies!
I hope you are wearing goggles though.
Terry
Yep using goggles, was using sunglasses but now have e marked safety glasses...look pretty good too!
I was looking at vehicle wiring products, there is a biker type neck sock which will filter the flies.
During World War 1 the pilots used to cake thir faces with grease in order to stop their faces from damage.......you could try that!!!!
Andy
Thi shas reminded me, my girlfriend (now wifey) used to complain about the same thing when we went out on my bike and I could never understand what she meant. Either there must be folk out there with weak chest muscles or I have lungs like a whale as I have never suffered from breathlessness when the wind is in me face. I think as has been posted already its maybe your brain not liking the sensation of being force-fed O2?
Find a nice bit of fast twisty roads and you will soon forget about the wind in your face.
Distraction therapy works!

Just joined here on the hopes of starting a build this summer--in Ontario Canada-. Since I am a fairly large person 6'4" 250lbs and big
feet I will have to stretch the chassis and maybe widen it bit--I was wondering which fenders or wings on the front help in the wind buffeting issue
or since I intend on stetching the cabin portion would moving the windscreen farther forward and changing the rake of it help?
Dale
You will get used to it, I use a helmet for long runs and whenever a motorway beckons. I used to find that my eyes watered alot and 30 mph was the limit without goggles but now i can cope with about 50mph with just my glasses on. the aeroscreen is more aerodynamic than a windscreen esp if you're one up.
